There needs to be a petition for voice chat in Destiny
As you can see, Destiny will not have proximity voice chat in co op, it will not have voice chat in crucible multiplayer matches, it will not have proximity voice chat in the Tower (understandable given the amount of people in the tower at times, but no text chat either?), and most idiotic of all, it won't have any voice chat for public events.
The link also provides Bungie's supposed reason why. They don't want people to troll or trash talk.
So basically, they want to limit us to party chat on PS4 , 360, and Xbone, meanwhile PS3 users have no voice chat at all. And for what? To save us the inconvenience of having to mute the occasional douchebag online so that our only option is an even bigger inconvenience (party chat)? How does that make any sense?
This game would've been PERFECT for proximity chat. In the beta, how many times did we all run into strangers that used the emotes to communicate? How many strangers joined you in a public event? And what kind of competitive multiplayer game doesn't allow teams to talk to eachother and work together?
What kind of open world, MMO type game doesn't allow social interaction? You think people don't want to take the time to mute people, but you think they want to take the time to invite completely random people to party chat?

The sad part is I'm sure some gamers agree with them. Seriously, grow some balls, and stop being lazy. You don't like random people talking to you? How about you mute the voice chat in general? You don't like trash talkers? Mute them!!!! Don't take away basic features from a game just because of some rare bad apples.

I believe the real reason for the missing voice chat is you can't rate an online only game if you have one or atleast not rated T. Ever notice how some games have a disclaimer saying online ratings might change or something of the like. Thats because they can control the games dialog, gore, and actions but not what people online say. So good luck man I also think it is required for some things but aslong as they want that T rating I don't see this happening.

I hate every game I have ever played competitively on xbla. The people on there are always toxic. I like a game that isn't toxic. and a community that isn't toxic. Please keep your love for toxic things out of my gaming. kthxbai. Having to mute trash talkers in the middle of a PVP match would mean entering a menu and getting destroyed while you try to disable their trash talk. It would negatively affect your score and your team. But you sir are exactly why we need to not have this feature. You can't even make a feature suggestion without insulting someone. Stop being toxic. Seriously it was this hard for you to go without insulting someone when writing on a forum. your negative attitude would ruin the game for others, and I am glad you can't ever talk to me in game.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS!! However: if Bungie insists on not having prox VC like this, they should ATLEAST have a text chatbox at the Tower so you can reach out to other people playing and invite them to your Fireteam prior to doing Missions, Strikes, Raids, Crucible, etc. I have met randoms and got them on my fireteam but about 70% of the time we are playing different game modes and split up anyway. :/

Here's an easy fix- implement prox chat, but leave it on "disabled" by default. That way, people that don't want to communicate, don't have it. But for the majority of us who do, we can enable it. 2 RepliesWell it was definitely one hell of a surprise when I simply assumed a game that sells itself being an online multiplayer experience had no voice chat communication outside of teaming up with friends. After playing it for 2 hours, I couldn't shake the feeling of how empty and lonely this game felt even when I would see randoms pop up in my campaign. I'm actually quite shocked.

Maybe make a Clan wide chat/text channel. That way if you are a pain, you get kicked from clan; and all the knuckle heads can clan up together. Then it would MUCH easier trying to coordinate fireteams for Crucible or raids etc. without having message a bunch of people, which btw, breaks the immersion more than a chat box.

Agreed definitely needs something. Have been unsuccessful to lure anybody to play on a fireteam with me so far. Quite frustrating! Social hub has no real social features and can't communicate other than issuing an invite that nobody responds too. Hopefully this is something that will be addressed soon.

I joined two groups on here and have no fewer than 5 people in my friends list playing destiny at any one time. So there's always a chat party for me to join. I think joining groups/clans was the main idea behind the social aspect of this game. You make friends all around the world. Btw I didn't read all of your post, too long.

OMG awesommmeee lets do it... ohhh lets make a awesome story buuuut remove awesome characters amazing cutscenes add repetetive missions and even batter make every mission the same.. ohh ohh i know lets instead also use my 8 year old sons story that he wrote on this paper it will surely be memorable. Ohh lets make.. ahh fk it we are bad at this maybe we will do a better job with destiny 2... ohh and also lets make destiny 2 real next gen because this isnt next gen since it is on last gen consoles.... and last but not least they did make a game that is unique.. no game has ever announced so many features and majorly fk those features up by stripping half of the stuff that makes those features good away... add more loot voice chat.. rewarding exploration and a better story

3 RepliesI agree. They say it is to prevent the 1 in 10 encounter with someone who will misuse chat. What they have achieved is stopping the 9 in 10 chance of enjoyable communication. The 1 in 10 is easily solved with mute and report features.

This is one of the biggest issues I have!! How can you have a FPS-MMO with out a social interaction with other gamers! It is very hard to schedule dates and times with friends to play games. It would be nice to at least chat with people who are playing the game the same time your are without have to send friends requests, chat rooms and so on! This should be an easy fix BUNGIE!! Please add this feature in the next Patch update! Thanks! ;)

i think this is a huge flaw in the system that needs to be readdressed. I get enough controlling from the government, i don't want Bungie to take notes from League of Legends and start thinking it's okay to restrict my freedoms just because this is a private venue. i should be able to text and/or voice chat and anyone that doesn't can turn it off or mute people. I'm so tired of games thinking it's okay to dictate how i play a game. Also, trash talking and trolling is essential to competition and a sense of community. It shows who is serious and isn't and makes for some good laughs along the way as well. It's enough that i've got free to play games on PC coming out left and right with unremoveable chat filters, dictating what i can and cannot say...but not being able to talk period is ridiculous. It's your job, as guardians of the guardians, to monitor what we say and discipline those who prefer racism or threats and assaults....it is not your job to silence the masses. You cannot have an MMO and not have voice/text chat; it doesn't work that way. You might as well call it something else; MMO should also stand for Messaging the Masses Online.

Completely agree. This game will die without an ability to communicate with others beyond console party chat. I can't believe this was left out in a game that capitalizes on teamwork, lol.
