PS4/PS3 XB1/360 Digital Upgrade/Downgrade?
I have a PS3 and a PS4, if I buy Destiny for PS3 I get the game for both. But if I buy it for PS4 I get just the PS4 version? Am I getting screwed for preordering Destiny for PS4 or will this thing go both ways?

The digital upgrade program is a one-way digital upgrade from old-gen (PS3 - Xbox 360) to current-gen (PS4 - Xbox One). I have been waiting for a response to this for some time, I had ordered the games before I was made aware of the ability to upgrade, clearly I would have bought the PS3 version if this was made available at the time. To date the PS3 (retrograde) is still not available for download. Bungie PSN need to be more clear on what the situation is as I believe we have been duped into buying PS4 versions. Can Bungie please allow retrograde downloads for those of us who have bought the PS4 version on the premise there wasn't an upgrade option. 2 RepliesAccording to Sony customer support, it'll work backwards as well. My living room has the XBone which is what I purchased it for, but I'd be able to play on the 360 in my room way more often.

I never comment, but Im beside my self here. This is totally ridiculous. I am in the same boat as well. Pre-ordered the PS4 Digital Guardian Ed version as well and I have a few buddies playing the PS3 version. Really? You give this promotion just a few months after? How much is it really going to cost you to give the digital version out for the PS3? Some pencil pusher decided that you will get 7% of your PS4 customers buying a PS3 version after the fact. Although I promise you just pissed off 100% of the people who are in the same boat as all the people who are here. This feels almost criminal. Shame on you Bungie.

Agreed, I had a friend buy it on PS3 (I have a ps4 digital copy) and I went to download it onto my PS3 to play with him but can't and now he does everything alone so forget the weekly and nightfall

What about those that bought the retail copies (amazon, bestbuy etc...)? I got the game for the beta, and have the PS3 copy (retail CE), but when I get my PS4 can I upgrade as well? As of right now, that's a no. Which I call BS. Why cant I get a digital upgrade key for when I purchase a PS4, if I got destiny before the January 15, 2015 timeline?????

I'm in the same boat. I bought it for the Xbox One and my brother just took that to college with him. Now I have no way to play a game I just paid full price for. And sure enough I got screwed on this one... Most of my friends are on last-gen but didn't occur to me to order the last-gen version since I have an Xbox One... Dang this is very very upsetting...

XB1 to XB360? I bought the Digital Guardian Ed. for the XB1 and have a pre-order in for the XB360, now I see this today. I would love to know if I will be able to get the 360 version for free. If not, I'm going to feel cheated. I shouldn't get punished for buying the XB1 Digital Version... I feel like there was a lot of information being withheld in regards to Digital Versions and the like. I am very disappointed that this info was not released sooner, so we could make a more educated choice as to which version of the game to purchase.

I also bought the xbox one digital collectors edition, but have a bunch of friends on 360. Would really appreciate if this version could allow a free "downgrade" to 360 as well so I could play with friends. Had I known about this promotion last week, would definitely had purchased the 360 digital version.

Next gen preorders are getting the shaft due to digital preorder policies. Neither network will supply refunds on digital preloaded games normally. Xbox.com is allowing this for some users but since this is outside their SOP there is risk of issues such a accounts being barred from purchasing or redownloading content if something goes wrong in the process (that's apparently how their normal special case refunds work according to the CSR I talked with, it's a one-time, you-never-want-this-again type deal). Even in the case of a successful refund the lack of preorders or a Digital Guardian edition mean 360/One users pay more for less. PSN's refund cycle is uncertain pending approval and will not be confirmed until after the game's release, leaving players in an odd limbo. This is truly a great offering and I appreciate the sentiment by Bungie, but the imbalance with offerings between consoles and the poor timing with the preorder/release is harmful to a fair number of customers and potentially even borderline with consumer protection laws in some countries due to the inability to change orders in a reasonable manner after the new offerings.

3 RepliesUPDATE : So i had to make 3 phone calls, over 2 days to basically be granted my money back right away, just before Tuesday (the 9th launch day) Just pre ordered on the PS3 and i should be able to play on PS4 on the 10th/11th based on sony s webpage. Good luck guys

10 RepliesBoth PlayStation and Xbox offer refunds on preorders if you cancel before the game is released. Call their customer service line, then buy digitally on your last gen console for the free upgrade.

1 ReplyJust figured it out this afternoon if it was a snake it would've bit me, the thing about it is for the upgrade is only available for the Ps3 & Xbox 360 but they're is no digital pre order in stores for the 360 how it works is Gamestop gives away no digital keys and not in email either unless you choose to pay it through the website they're just marketplace currency to the the GoD ( Games on Demand ) same applies to Ps3 if not already pre loaded. The offer will start on the Xbox 360/Ps3 (If not pre loaded) when the GoD comes out at 2am CST for me or whatever time zone your in that's why I'm starting mine soon as it comes out then going to bed while it downloads. Same thing for Ps3 to Ps4 but for the servers go up for me at 7am CST while for others you might have to check your time zone on a time zone converter like I did to see what time the GoD starts along with when the servers open up. Hope this somewhat clarifies things.

Any updates on this, i would really like to know if i can download the xbox one edition so i can play it tonight because if i have to do it on the 360 i'll have to wait til 2am central time to even start the download so no way i'm playing until tomorrow night after work.
