Your first hour or two on Destiny
Ok, so you've got back from Game with your Ghost edition, or the download on your Digital Guardian has finished. Tell me about how you're going to first start this game. Or does your excited preparation even run before you've picked the game up and you're readying yourself and your room/setup for it?
For me it'll be a little different to those retro games we used to be so excited to play on Mega Drive or PS1. The first MGS I read all through the manual with the intro on repeat at the Start screen. Something a little closer to home, maybe, Vanguard I spent far too long on character creation and then walked slowly around the 'starting area' absorbing all the flora and fauna (while killing massive centipedes that agro'd, of course)
Destiny?
Well I'm in a little quandary as I'll be driving back from a photoshoot at Spa Francorchamps on the Monday evening so my excited plan in my head starts by picking up my Ghost Ed from a mate who's collecting it for me at midnight. Head home and start the install as my girlfriend will be fast asleep at 3am. While it's installing I'll be absorbing as much lore and information in the books and cards in the Ghost Ed box. I'm thoroughly looking forward to reading all the piles of info they'll cram in.
Once the game has loaded I pretty much know what my Guardians (Warlock main and Hunter alt) will look like as I played endlessly in the Beta - stupidly haha. I can't decide how quickly I'm going to run through that first mission, but the next story missions I'm going to take my time on, intentionally playing very carefully and not missing a single shadow, light beam, fallen headshot.
I hope this will set a mental reminder of how carefully and appreciatively I used to play Everquest, Vanguard (I miss this game) and at the beginning WoW and set me on a good slow path through the game.
I'm not going to miss a thing!

Im picking up a quarter ounce of the finest smokable green and most likely play the first night solo cause i doubt the servers will be too crowded at midnight on a tuesday. And I'll try to start on hard mode. at least for the missions ive already played in the beta. And of course bags of jerky and candy and coffee and energy drinks. i cant wait.

1 ReplyGames like Destiny is why I love video games. You aren't forced along a fast-paced sprint of a campaign, or no-lifeing the multiplayer to have the best K/D. I mean you can, but it gives you the option to roam around, take in all the details, watch the virtual sunset, role play... And essentially take it slow.

3 RepliesCould you help me with something. First of all your post was cool and interesting to read. Second, I read on one of the comments below that the servers are turned on at 3am. Now I love in the UK. Is the game going to be playable as soon as it's installed or are the servers going to be turned on at 3am in each time zone individually.

4 RepliesRun through the story until I first get to the tower, then run around grabbing all the ghosts and goodies I know about there, then on to all the missions and gathering ghosts and golden chests as I run through. Got everything down well enough up until the moon portion, and I know a bit here and there for that. I am guessing in the first 2 hours of actually playing, I will have made it through all of old russia, strike included (was soloing it in around 30 mins on beta, so should be able to rush it if I get some good players for my fireteam) and then start the new goodies on the moon and on. 5 days to go.......feels so unbelievably far away.

I have it downloaded on my xbox one already. I just have to wait until 3am EST so i can actually play it. So im gonna go to sleep at 7pm, and set an alarm for 3am so i can get a good 3 hours in before i have to get ready for school

Ill be reading up on the lore while it installs, making my Awoken Warlock, reskinning my ghost and getting the Vanguard guns, getting all the gold chests around Russia ASAP while farming Spinmetal, then just playing the story through, each mission on normal then again on hard before I progress to the next

i am getting my ghost edition during the midnight release, i am going to take a nap during the day and wake up near midnight and when i get it, i am going home and going to play it all the 9th, or until i pass out from sleep deprivation. =3

The first couple of Hours I will be reskining my ghost. Then I must try the Vanguard Army's guns. Then I will settle down and probably loot chests to grow some Currency. I will spend some time working out if Bungie changed anything from the Beta like controler layout etc. It will be very good to return back to my second home Destiny.

1 Replymy gamestop is only 10 minutes from my house so i will probably leave at midnight so i get there the line will be either gone or almost gone. ill start the install and read the books. if i get finished reading before the install is over i might watch some destiny on twitch until my game is ready. i plan on at least getting to the moon before i fall asleep. im excited to do the strike on the moon. i just love kiling the hive.

12 RepliesBefore I leave to go to the midnight launch to pick up my limited edition version, I'm gonna treat myself to a nice takeaways dinner and buy a 6 pack of strong bourbon cola's which I'll leave in the fridge (I purposely haven't drunk alcohol in a month so that in itself is exciting). I'm going to move my tv into the office so I don't disturb my gf while she's sleeping and I don't want to be in the lounge as I live with my gf's parents. After I get the game it's a 30 minute drive home. Another cool thing is that I bought a turtle beach headset and a pair of kontrol freek analogue stick add ons just for this game so those will be sweet for my all night gaming session. I'll play for hours and hours high on destiny excitement and in a drunken haze. It will be glorious. (I live in New Zealand so we will get our physical copies quite a bit earlier than the rest of the world). I believe Tonga is the first country to see the 9th of September, followed by New Zealand an hour later.

After I downloaded my DGE? Probably sleep while its downloading. Then when its midnight and I can play, I will probably be sleeping again. I will wake up in the morning like I always do, drive my daughter to school. Once I get back, I will probably pick up my controller, and turn the power on the PS4. From there I will go into Destiny. Once I am in Destiny, I will continue through the menu to the point where I create my character. Once I get there, I will probably go back and forth between Titan and Hunter, which will take about 3 minutes. Ultimately, I will take the Hunter. Once I am in there, I will probably take 5 minutes to make my character because I want to mess around with all the settings. Once that is done, I will watch the required video that will play that sets up the Destiny universe and then places me in control of my character. Once I have control of my character, I will complete the objectives that I must. I most likely will kill several enemies during this mission. I imagine this will take up the first hour.

2 RepliesI'm going to walk my dog for few hours up to about 11 pm as there is no way I'm taking her out in the morning as il be glued to destiny. I'm then going order a big Chinese takeaway. Then I'm going to get out some sweet Vietnamese coffee I have a have jug of on the wood burner so I won't run out all night. I'm then going pre roll 3 joint. 2 Carmela hash and 1 media haze. Then 12 01 will come and I will become legend

Play through the story and possibly strikes if they are level-based as we reach their levels, with my fireteam whom I have never met nor played with before because I met them through my new Destiny clan for australian PS4 players. Given that I didn't play Beta, it's ALL gonna be new and interesting :p
