The Royal Family has cost the tax payer £35.7 million in the last financial year, not including security.
Buckingham Palace said the cost was equivalent to just over a penny a week for every person in the United Kingdom.
The Queen's income is expected to rise by more than 5% next year after the Crown Estate announced record profits.
Keep in mind the UK gets around £230-£240m from the Monarchy and in return they get a fixed wage which increases or decreases depending on how much money the Treasury receives from the Monarch.
So why should the UK get rid of the Monarch?

Edited by Gatsby: 6/26/2014 1:06:26 PMBecause England is built on their land, there's a video on it that explains it better. If we didn't pay them 37million then it would be much more expensive to rent or whatever.
The cost to maintain the royal family today is 40 million pounds per year. But the revenue paid to the UK from the royal lands is 200 million.
