I will post publicly known information and tips about the Raid. Community members will be given credit for any shared info or tips that I post here. Although I expect everyone will be too busy during the first week of Destiny haha. I might change this thread into a detailed guide later this year. Check my Destiny Guide for Trophies & Achievements. -------------------------------- Publicly known info and tips for each Encounter will be posted here Encounter 1: Entrance Encounter #: -------------------------------- Weekly Update: Aug 29/14 - Raid info by Luke Smith (Raid Design Lead) Click the Spoilers below to view more info. Information - The Raid called the Vault of Glass is located on Venus. - Fireteam of 6 players with no match making. - No waypoints to follow or objectives that explain what to do. - Difficulty: Normal and Hard. Hard mode unlocks after finishing Normal. - Encounters: There are multiple stages called encounters that are checkpoints. - Checkpoints: Your weekly progress is stored, so you can continue it later after completing an encounter. - Weekly Reset: Your progress for the week is reset each Tuesday. (Probably 12am PST)
- Lockout per Character: Obtaining loot from a given encounter means that character can’t receive loot from the same encounter until this "Lockout” is cleared after the weekly reset. - Loot: Each class has an entire set of gear to chase across the two difficulties. The loot you get is private to you, just like the rest of the game. - Raid Weapons Loot: Each of Destiny’s nine weapon archetypes has a Legendary version that has been created for the Raid. - Unique Loot: Each encounter has a fixed inventory of items it can award to players. Certain pieces of gear or weapons can only drop from certain encounters.
Extra Details - You're going to need to work as a group to form a metaphorical key which opens a given encounter's lock. - DeeJ said players may not have the gear needed to complete a Raid. Collecting gear from the Raid itself may be required.
- Normal mode is about learning the mechanics, working together as a team and building strategies to overcome the encounters. - Hard mode encounters leverage an even harsher death penalty than the Normal mode. It has deadlier combatants, tighter tuning windows for encounter mechanics and a handful of targeted differences. - The story that some clan didn’t beat the Raid after 16+ hours is more complicated. Read DeeJ’s Weekly Update for the full story. - DeeJ’s Gamescom 2014 Interview- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L69hEdbjTmo - Lockouts, weekly reset, and encounter specific loot drops could mean that it takes multiple attempts to complete the Raid. - More Raids will be released later, most likely through expansion packs.
