How Health, Shields, Armor, and Agility work.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could explain how the health system works in Destiny. My understanding is that the red, leftmost segment of the health bar represents your health/armor, and is affected by your Armor stat. The segments to the right represent your shields, and those are the same for everyone. A person playing as a Titan may be able to spec more heavily into Armor than, say, a Warlock, and will have more health, but both will have equivalent shields. Right? Next, Recovery. This only increases the speed at which your shields (the right segments of the health bar) regenerate, and NOT how soon they BEGIN to recharge. So a Warlock may be able to spec more heavily into Recovery than, say, a Hunter, and will recover their shields in less time, but both will have to wait equally long for their shields to begin charging. Right? Lastly, what does Agility affect? Movement speed and jump height, correct? Anything else? Sliding distance, weapon readying speed perhaps? Thanks for any clarification, and what do you guys think is the most crucial stat to improve. I gotta go with Armor, personally.

  • To me the red is just "your near death, warning!" Rather then health, armor to me affects your bar (so if a bullet hits a warlock he loses 4 mm of the healthier, if a titan is hit by the same bullet he loses 2 mm of the bar) Besides that I feel you're on the mark.

  • I would like to know more about agility and get a definitive answer on all attributes but I don't know personally.

No idea what agility does. As a titan I am as fast and can jump higher than my Hunter friend.

  • Your health bar is separated into three segments. The left third is your actual health. The right two thirds are your shield. Everyone has the same amount of Health/Shield regardless of their stats. Armor plays into damage reduction ON TOP of defense. The higher your armor stat, the less damage your health takes once your shields are down per shot. Titans with high armor can survive longer without shields then the other two before modifiers. Recovery not only plays into speed of recharge but also the delay before recharge starts. Warlocks are king of recovery. They only need to hide half as long as other classes before modifiers before their health and shields are fully recharged and can get back into the fight at full power. Recharge only starts after the last time you were hit. Recovery reduces this delay. Agility reflects movement speed and jump. That is correct. It does NOT effect weapon speeds. The weapons themselves have the modifiers such as Quickdraw and Single Point Sling for this. Agility allows Hunters to move so fast that their enemies can't hit what isn't there. You can't kill what you can't hit. Again, before modifiers.

  • So why should I then spec for more ability as a warlock?!
