DLCs do not work cross gen, change it
This is ridiculous. I'm a Sony guy, so I've never had to deal with Bungie before but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

if u buy for the 360 and plan to switch to the one later then u have to buy all the dlc again this would not be as big a problem for other games but if they want it to last 10 years they should consider having a smother transition between consoles they let u swap characters between consoles in the beta y not dlcs after all for someone who might want to play on both 360 and one to keep with friends on both they would already have bought 2 games and 1 dlc, it seems harsh to make them pay an extra $40 min it would only encourage people to stick to one console and then they would loss the $100 they would have spent on a second game i would consider it to be best to have the dlc linked to player accounts and so they follow across that way destiny would not be discourage buying the new console when there ready

Why do you need to purchase Destiny now? If you don't have a current-gen console, I would say wait until you get one. That way you only pay for the game/DLC once. Future Destiny games will more than likely be current-gen only, so having Destiny on previous-gen won't do you a whole lot of good in the long term. Besides, Destiny as a game is not going anywhere. I understand the desire to play it now, rather than later, but Destiny will still be there by the time you upgrade to current-gen.

..But the game itself isn't cross gen either is it? You can't play with people on a PS3 when you are on a PS4. So this only makes sense...

1 ReplyYeah this needs to change. Why the -blam!- should I have to buy the dlc twice if all my other stuff transfers over? I already have to buy the game twice for ps3 the ps4 isn't that enough.... Oh well, I guess that's the price you pay for jumping to next gen.

They can link the stuff to our accounts instead of having it on their server that's what Final Fantasy does

This is no different then anything anybody has ever done on console. This shouldn't be a surprise at all. Would I say it is fair, No. It is what it is though.

1 ReplyMakes sense to me. If you are playing Destiny on 2 consoles (eg:- ps3 & ps4), then you have to buy 2 copies of the game, so why wouldn't you buy 2 copies of the dlc.

By the way, this is a problem that you should take up with Microsoft and Sony. Bungie can't help that there's no backwards compatibility.

What if, and this is crazy the dlc for last gen has less then current gen? As someone who is not casual and bought a console and won't look back at buying a new game for an old system I'm all for giving current gen more then last gen can handle

Why should it? A little thing called planning ahead. I upgraded COD Ghosts almost 3 months before I got an X1. If you can afford to be dumb enough to buy a game twice on separate consoles, plus the cost of the new console/membership, you can hold off getting it, or definitely afford it again. You might be behind, but would it be that, or be out $60+ and exclusives. Your choice. DLC is applied to the hard drive, not a profile. If it was, some hacker could be playing on your profile, and delete all your data. You have to think, it is for our own safety (and to prevent illegal transfers, etc to other consoles). Heck, most of the time now: no Internet=no access to dlc you downloaded=no gameplay, period (now that is stupid IMO).
