Like starfox! Would make a hell of a lot of sense since we know bungie can definitely do flight combat ie (HALO) Like how about a couple space maps that are massive and have a couple landmarks like space stations or asteroid belts or maybe even a map that revolves around the moon or is atleast in between the moon and earth.
IT WOULD MAKE BUYING A DOPE SHIP MORE PRACTICAL and would give us reasons to have different ships. I know I've seen blasters and missile launcher packages on ships. I know they're only aesthetic at the moment but you could have like a small skill tree for each ship kinda like you do for the guns? Like more damage or blasters do certain damage. Or even blaster upgrades kinda like in metroid when you get split blasters that shoot three or wavy blasters or freezing blasters. And you could have a couple different missile types like cluster or singularity bombs or seeking. All I'm sayin is I know this would be a lot to do but it would make Destiny a whole lot more complete if we had ship on ship combat. AND I KNOW YOU GUYS COULD TOTALLY DO IT! especially since the same system that you use for weapons and gear applys to how you create the ships. just THINK about how insanely SICK that would be?!

Seriously though, whats the point of wasting glimmer on something you wont even use, except watch it sit there in orbit?
-
if I want ship on ships I'll go play bf3 or battlefront 2 lol.
-
I wish bro. This has been talked about a lot.

Edited by DEZARATH: 8/25/2014 6:34:15 PMWe've been saying this since the 2013 GDC. Expect long winded no's and dumb arguments from really boring people on why it's cool to be boring. Last night I played the new Warframe update. You can fly your ship in the Cutscene between planets. It's just side to side minimalism, but still c'mon Bungie you guys seriously deserve a Xwing landing on your heads for your lack of vision when it came to space ships. Deep down I'm still holding onto a glimmer of hope that spaceships will be more that what we've seen so far. Probably a waste of time but there you go. Especially when other developers who number in like six guys pull off some basic cool features and you have a talent pool of five hundred with Bungie at the ready,... who are happy with a cement tight railed experience for space ships? Really?

one word "NO"
-
I think like in guardians of the Galaxy where it's clan on clan ship battles and you have to take over the main ship which harbors all of the members ships inside.
-
They enemy has spaceships...WE have spaceships!
-
No thank you
-
Naaaa
-
I want a million dollars...ain't going to happen...so yeah
-
People fail to realize that Spaceship combat is basically just standard vehicle combat with more movement axis. Really, it's simple to do, and pretty fun. I doubt we'll get it until probably Destiny 3, but it'd be nice.
-
I did enjoy the space combat part in halo 3 (or was it reach?) So I would love to see something like that in destiny.
-
Although I don't think this is plausible for Destiny 1, I think this is definitely plausible, possible, and wanted in the sequel.
-
No man's sky will fulfill my space exploration wants. Destiny will take all my gamer time.
-
If Destiny would concur that threshold, I would be happy. But I'm very content with what we have currently so... Wishful thinking for the future.
-
Probably in an update or DLC. The people below are so pessimistic.
-
I'd rather waste glimmer on a ship that only appears during loading screens and in orbit than the devs wasting time and real world glimmer on half-assed space combat that isn't as fun, complex, or rewarding as killing stuff on the ground as a guardian.
-
Hey did it amazingly in reach. I don't see why they can't do it again (or why then never used it again in reach in the first place...)
-
I'd like to at least have some control of the ship and camera to check out the ship more while in orbit and warp speed
-
STFU. This game WILL NOT BE "LIKE" any other -blam!-ing game. Y'all got some problems trying to change this game to a game that's outdated.
-
You use the word "We" far too literally for it to be applied to anything so whimsical as a preference for ship on ship combat. Ain't nobody got time for dat.
-
When I want to fight things in the air I play war thunder
-
There was an interview from Gamescom. They said in "Destiny 1 ships are vanity," and for this installment they wanted keep our feet on the ground. So either they are toying with us or the thought of doing more stuff with ships is something they looking into.

Yes....but you have a few major problems. 1. Bungie already has enough challenges on their plate with Destiny---without having to create another MAJOR game-within-a-game---for this release. This is their first cross-platform release in 15 years. They are combining lots of different game mechanics into one genre-bending game. They are trying to climb out from under MS's shadow. 2. Space combat sims aren't very popular at the moment. So making one an integral part of the game would be a huge risk. 3. There is another game----Star Citizen---coming out soon for PC that is trying to do for space combat sims what Destiny is trying to for FPS. Worse still it is being made by a company owned by the guy who is to space combat sims...what Bungie and Activision are to FPSs. So the last thing Bungie wants to do coming out of the blocks is go up against these guys....in someone ELSE's wheelhouse---and in a market where there maynot be enough room for both games. Bungie MAY at somepoint decide to do this...but it will ONLY be after Destiny is firmly established---and--secure...and Star Citizen has come out and demonstrated that there is still a viable market for space combat sims.
