DS4 Controller - Should I buy a white PS4?

Hey guys I have recently preordered the white ps4 destiny bundle, however, I am beginning to have second thoughts. I have heard from a couple of close friends that the ds4 controller has many issues I.e. The thumb sticks begin to tear after several months of normal usage and the the bumpers become "sticky" (compressed) after a while. The final problem I have heard about is that the L2 and R2 triggers are rather flimsy and can break off quite easily. With that in mind, do you think I should keep my PS4 preorder? It would be nice to hear the opinions of other playstation 4 owners on this topic. Have you experienced any of these issues?

    • never heard of the triggers issue and ive been using my triggers none stop since it came out on the first day. The rubber on my left thumbstick edge ripped and the same with my brothers. I just bought some cheap "grip it" things and it works great. I hear alot about the control freaks, have never tried them though. Super easy fix and nowhere near a legit reason not to but PS4 unless you love domino theories. "My thumnstick ripped so my PS4 is going to blow up next week!! OH NOS!!

    • You can buy thumb stick covers. Besides the analog sticks tearing i have had 0 problems with the controller and i've thrown it multiple times

        • Ive had a PS4 since day one and I play a ton. The only problems ive had with anything is the rubber coming off the sticks. Ive heard this has been fixed. Not sure but I bought a 20 pack of sticks off ebay for like six bucks. They have held up great. They are identical to stock except I got colored and they seem better quality. Ill probably never need the other 16. Used 2 blue and 2 purple on my 2 controllers. Nice personal touch as well.

Wuuut?? I don't know about long term wear and tear. I've only had my ps4 a week or so. Bought it used. Controller seems pretty solid to me. And I'm pretty hard on my controllers. (Yes I'm guilty of rage smashing a controller here and there, I'm working on that lol) but the ps4 controller seems to be even sturdier than past controllers. The issues you listed actually sound more like the results of abuse. I'm holding a ps4 controller right now and I assure you. These triggers won't be popping off from normal use. That used to happen to my ps3 controller though... When I threw it at the wall.

          • Keep it. Don't like it then resell and make a quick profit.

            • I know you don't know me but please trust what I'm about to say. The r2 and l2 work fine. I think you're friends are pressing that button extra hard. Ive had mine for about 2 months and the analog are fine. I also heard about how the analog grips wear off so i went to amazon and bought analog grips that only cost a dollar. (It came with 4 they fit perfect and i love them) the only problem i have is that the battery life on them is horrible. Other than that the ds4 is awesome:)

              • I'll start out by saying, i'm not a hardcore gamer. Meaning I only play about 5-10 hours a week due to school. I've had my PS4 since february. For the thumbsticks, mine have no sign of tearing, and I think (don't quote me) that was a problem with the first batch or so and they fixed it, but don't know for sure. And no "sticky" bumpers. But for my R2 and L2, they don't feel flimsy but mine have gotten a little "squeeky" when I push it at a certain angle. Now if the controller is the only thing deciding your decision, i'd say don't worry about it, and if you really don't like it maybe a 3rd party one?

                • Had a technician come work on my internet a week ago and saw I had an xbox one. He said he had a ps4 and likes it but also mentioned the same problems you said about the controllers, and that he has sent in 4 controllers to sony to be replaced for free, plus a shipping cost. I don't have a ps4 so I can't comment on the quality of the controllers but he seemed genuine about his plight.
