Based on a interview with Bungie yesterday. It has been said the level cap is 30. How do yall feel about that? And how long do you think it will take you to reach it?
Update: I thought it was common knowledge that the soft level cap is 20, I was wrong. So to clarify soft level cap is 20 and a max level of 30.

I think it'll take some tine to get to 30 considering you can only get light from gear and that gear will drop in nightfalls and raids
-
It'll take 2 days to make it to 30. But the exploration, loot, and Pvp helps the game ensure its longevity.

Doesn't really matter to me. Sure its not that big compared to other mmorpg's, but just by saying that you're assuming that destiny's level system is identical to all those other mmorpg's. The fact that the only thing level determines is what enemies you can fight and what gear you can wear is another thing. If all level is a system of determining your power ratio against enemies, does it really matter what the cap is? Also, they've stated several times that the game's focus is on horizontal progression, not vertical progression. Even once you hit lvl 20 you still got tons more stuff to do. You can stop worrying about which gun deals the most damage and start aiming for what feels comfortable. They're making the level process shorter than other games so you can get to the loot hunting and top tier activities sooner. For that reason, I see no need to make the level cap bigger. Would you really want the 80 levels of borderlands 2 to go through before you find your first exotic or attempt a raid?

I think the level cap is 15
-
There are nightfall missions that have a level 31 difficulty
-
Seeing as though to level up past 20 will takes gathering motes of light and using them to purchase badass gear. I think 20-30 will take quiet a bit of time.
-
If they cap at 30 then I'm sure there will be a "prestige" or something along those lines that allows you to progress your character beyond the limits of the level cap. It not an uncommon practice in MMO games that need to keep subscriber and players interested in playing after hitting the cap.

In all honesty, I can (not being arrogant) say that hitting soft cap of 20 would take me a full day at max (I'll be playing from launch till I fall asleep). My plan for Destiny was to run past the Story and hit 20 so I can get ready for strikes and the Raid. Now hitting 30 is a different leveling system as far as I know. I would say hitting 30 may take me from a month to longer, I can't honestly say how long because the gear could be decent or rare. If I were to choose a defined time I would say a month to two months of nothing but grinding, but I also enjoy crucible and just sitting in nice scenic areas so it could always take longer. Soft cap will be easily obtainable, the hard cap will be a challenge I look forward to.

Well I don't think leveling up is the purpose of this game. At least from what I have heard. It's more about the gameplay and pvp and exploring not about reaching the next level. However I hope they can achieve this with making me bored because I get tired of not leveling up. I think subclasses will help though!
-
I'm just gonna play the game and not worry about all this. I just wanna have fun.
-
I don't really care.
-
I just hope its not a ball grinding fest
-
Twenty hours of playtime to max a character. It's not skyrim
-
reach 20 5 days? reach 30? if it's based on equipment i'd say 2 month if you raid well with your party
-
and in 6 months itll go to 40 and 6 more itll go to 50
-
When u get to 20 u have to collect motes of light to level up past that
-
The lvl is 30 wtf
-
Yeahhhhh I'd be fine with anything over 50
-
Horrible
-
The max isnt 30, the soft cap is 30, because there will be 3 subclasses 10 levels per class, I believe, if you go to your character youll see 2/3 subclasses
-
I think they'll increase it ass they bring out more updates and dlc..hopefully
-
Meh. Needs more Ambient Occulsion.

I don't mind too much. The thing people aren't getting about this game is that it is not as Lv restricted as a traditional MMO and so people keep comparing them saying that the Lv cap needs to be higher, we need crafting, we need bigger raids, bla bla bla. The game is more about personal customization than a solid Lv. Once we all hit Lv 30 we will then get to the grinding phase just like in the alpha/beta. It took no time at all to get to the Lv 8 cap in the beta but it took me forever to get the top gear and to get the gun types that I was looking for. Even towards the end of the beta I still didn't have the weapon and armor effects that I wanted so again, I needed to continue playing. The Lvs are more to help you determine the difficulty of the mission than you character's actual strength. If everyone is Lv 30 then it will become more about the player's character than about the player's Lv which is a really cool system IMO.
-
I actually don't mind that it just means that you don't have to grind as long
-
Well they have to put a cap on it. They have a ten year plan so that cap will be raised after awhile
