It should read "Average gamer amazed that game developer is amazed that average gamer thinks they know the size and scope of a game they've played one tenth of. In a Beta test. That was not the completed game. Game developer sighs."

That planet view was enough to convince me how big the game is, and how much potential it has to get even bigger.

I thought the game was huge, I loved it :D. I also think its awesome that Bungie plans to fix the "problem" about it being so small, but the people who complained about this really shouldn't force Bungie to make more to the game.

            • Lol Bungie sucking their own dicks The repeated rooms and lack of environmental interaction really isn't impressive Fallout actually had things in their environments (people, side quests, sub locations) but Destiny is just a big map with enemies in it But I have to admit, the landscape is beautiful

This is just another example of how dumb some gamers are. It has come to the point that The term "gamer" simply means whiny, entitled, spoiled brat who stomps their feet like a 3 year old who doesn't get their way. We only got to see one small part of the game on the beta, and now people say the whole game is small?????? What is wrong with people. How do they know????

                    • My complaints aren't landmass. It is the content that worries me. Limited interactivity in explore mode will be the killing point. I've been very unimpressed so far.

                        • Well I got some things to say this. 1) Of course he is going to say that he is trying sell a game. 2) He also works on the game so his personnel connection to it may cause him to think bigger then it is. Now saying my point of views from playing in beta. Shooters are not usually very big to begin with. If all 4 zones are as big as Old Russia then that seems about right for a shooter. Then even after the story we'll have Nightfall missions that I am sure will be recycling some material to give it new value and new experiences to help you get better gear. I am not to concerned, I think Destiny will have enough to keep me occupied a little bit each day.

                          •
...it's the biggest game we ever made.
This what people don't recognize Bungie isn't comparing themselves to the Elder scrolls. I was disappointed when I found out the true magnitude of this game because I felt like I had been lied to. But the truth is I just misunderstood them. My biggest disappointment now is that they haven't take beards seriously.

                          • It's understandable. When given an abstract concept like we were given for destiny for quite some time people begin to imagine what it's going to be. Slapping numbers down narrows the view. For example the 4 exploreable worlds. That doesn't tell people the size of the place or how much you can do at each place. So technically each world can be as big as bungie wants. But having numbers puts an end on things. "sure they might be bigger then 3 forge worlds combined. But there is still only 4 of those places." Words are very misleading. Bungie has the upper hand because they know whats in store. They know how big these places are and how much content they want to push. They have experienced what we are getting. Experience speaks miles over words and numbers. All we have is the hard numbers and our small time in the beta to judge. So you can't blame them for how they feel. Now personally I'm content with what we are getting at launch. I trust bungie. But i understand why people feel upset or lied to. ( i am not trying to justify anyone.)

                            • This is a multifaceted problem. First and foremost, there's no clear consensus on what is meant by size. Is it the dimensions of the digital boundaries of the game? Is it the size of the files in bytes? Is it the amount of time it'll take to beat the story? Next is everyone judging the game as small. The main issue seems to be with the dimensions of individual play spaces. While it is true that each play space is probably smaller than the play space in, say, fallout, they do seem more dense, and the game as a whole, with the combined spaces from each planet, will be very large indeed. It seems, however, that people value connected spaces much more than segmented areas, even if the areas create a larger total space. But Bungie is not without fault in this situation. While they cannot directly control people's imaginations and expectations, they, at the very least, have access to this forum, which clearly shows what people are hoping for and expecting. They should not be surprised by anything. If they are, it just means they aren't listening. It takes me back to the days when everyone was talking about all the cool things they'd do with their own personal space ships. Bungie said nothing. Then months later, it was very meekly stated in an interview, as if Bungie was hoping people wouldn't notice, that Destiny would be a "Boots on the ground" FPS, not a space sim. Queue the outcry. Bungie could have at any point before that, just came in and clarified exactly what our space ships would be, but instead let us exist in a perpetual state of speculation. The same is happening with the size and scope of Destiny. People are grasping at any little bit of information and filling in the unknown with whatever they want. Bungie could step in and just answer our questions, but they seem to prefer to let us speculate, and disappoint ourselves. Then claim to be surprised that we were expecting something else.

                                • I don't believe destiny is going to small in anyway shape or form, it has never concerned me. Although it is a little concerning when bungie come out and say "this game isn't small, its the biggest game we have ever made" .... well obviously it is. I absoloutely adore all of the halo games. Lets be honest though, there isn't that much content in them. Once you finish the campaign and maybe firefight then its basically PvP forever. SO if bungie are saying that Destiny is bigger (has more content) than any of the halo games then maybe it really isn't that big..... Thoughts?
