So are we clear this is speculation and just an opinion? Yes? Good, lets begin.. I believe the reef to be a second public space. Let's face it whenever we've seen characters in trailers from the reef they aren't hostile although a little holier than thou maybe.. Imagine it, you and your fire team have battled the darkness across multiple worlds, survived when the odds have been stacked against you & you find yourself granted an audience with the queen. She makes an offer, a simple one, leave earth to the darkness, the traveller is dead it will not awaken. Building a new home in the reef & hoping the darkness does not find the remains of humanity amongst the stars is the wise decision. You turn, you vowed to defend humanity & the last safe city, but as you leave one of your fire team stays with the inhabitants of the reef.. Those choosing to stay in the reef need a public space right? And as destiny closes we find ourselves with the prospect of friends on different sides of the fence, fireteams torn apart & possibly clans ripped down the middle. Who knows maybe we'll have a war between factions brewing. Destiny DOES have MMO-like features & don't most MMO's have 2 opposing factions? Time will tell & maybe this is something we'll see in Destiny 2.. See you starside guardians.
