The ps4 beta and alpha did not utilise the touchpad. Tomb raider had simple but intuitive touch controls, sweep up for torch and down to put out and holster.
I think swiping up to summon your ghost would be quicker and feel much better, and swipe down to put it away. If you swipe down without your ghost it would summon your sparrow.
I think it's a missed opportunity not to implement the above for ps4 players.
What are your thoughts? Comment so bungie consider this
*edit* you would still have the original buttons mapped swipe options would be optional

Swipe me in !!! Lets do this Bun-genies :)
-
Good idea. It's a simple use of the touchpad that will help players without fidgety complex gestures.
-
I like the way you think
-
Agreed
-
I like your style man.
-
That would be excellent if it were patched in!
-
Great idea OP, I like this alot. I hope bungie sees this, it would be a great thing to implement imo
-
Great idea!
-
Good call. At least the option would be good
-
I would actually like this
-
I think that would be awesome. I'm tired of it just being the "bring up the map" button on shit
-
That's probably the best use of the touch pad since infamous. Most developers use it as a huge "push this to bring up the map" button
-
Not going to happen. Because Destiny is not a PS4-exclusive game. It is a multi-platform game. So its control scheme has to work on all FOUR platforms. Not just one.
-
For the vehicles, I can see that as too easy a get away for PvP and other game modes.

I Second This!

i like the idee but i always hoped sony had placed the Touchpad at the bottom of the controller instead on top just like on the Vita now u have to move your hand to much and get a bit out of reach with your thumsticks if they had placed the touchpad at the bottom your fingers would already be there or in reach of it without moving your hand.

I think Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition does it best. No swiping but press left of right side of the touchpad for different functionality. Its more precise and faster IMO.
-
As it stood, summoning the sparrow was abit cumbersome
-
I would love that fantastic idea
-
I completely agree. It would totally save time in the game to summon your sparrow, for example; in the pvp if you where to do that it would save time and keep you from being a sitting duck while you where loading it in the ghost menu. Also bungie should utilise the touch pad on the dual shock 4 controllers, to at least give it some meaning.
-
As long as the sparrow is a legit option for PvP, players should not abuse that feature to easily get away. I think the hold-to-spawn-sparrow was made in full purpose with a certain balancing, to keep encounters clean, in mind.

I think the touchpad feels a bit gimmicky. Playing infamous second son, the touchpad is used a fair bit, but it just seems like it's thrown in there. The actions performed by the touch pad could easily be assigned to other buttons. I imagine it won't go completely unused, but we'll have to see exactly what bungie does with it.
-
It would be cool to use the touchpad as a mouse, making the cursor in your inventory esier to use.
-
Best use of the touchpad in destiny. I would love to see this implemented for ps4 and frankly am surprised they didn't think about using it when sony is paying so much to push ps4 sales (timed exclusives, white bundle, and marketing)

-blam!- yeah!! BUMP!! Love this idea

I like the sound of this. Good idea!
