Last gen held us back to 30 frames per second.
If Bungie had left them behind for Destiny we could have had 60 fps on a PS4/Xbone exclusive. That's not even touching on the idea that time spent on the PS3/360 version could have been further applied to a better next gen version.
Should Bungie have sacrificed people on last gen systems in the interest of making Destiny the best it could be?
Update: Don't shoot the guy asking the question. The numbers don't lie, and they show the community is pretty evenly split on this one.

Please know this: Legacy Generation systems did not limit the performance of Next Generation builds of Destiny. Destiny exists as a central design build on proprietary Bungie hardware. That's nerdese for the fact that we use our own machines to build a game that is completely unaware of where it will live. From there, we identify where it can thrive, and create a version that will make the most of each separate home. There are four versions of Destiny, and they each fill the space they're given in their own ways. Hope this helps. Keep asking us your questions. We might still shoot you, but it will happen in acceptable forms found in the Crucible. Hugs and buckshot, DeeJ

Think of it this way, not everyone has the new gen console price is high and some people are waiting for it to drop more then what it is, 2nd 500 million dollars put into the game weather it's marketing, upgrades of any kind to the game, better training for the teams, what ever of course it's gonna be on new and old gens, 3rd don't be a jackass
-
yea lets compare numbers 10 million ps4 to 75 million ps3 while xbox one 6-7 million (havent given a number recently guessing) xb360 73 million yea lets just chop off the biggest area buying the game.
-
When I get a PS4 I will stop caring about last gen, but for now I do
-
Yeah, I'd say developing it on last gen was a waste of a lot of resources and features. We probably could already have this game out now if it wasn't for them.

Edited by NinjaCoby: 8/15/2014 6:55:49 AMDestiny is amazing on the PS4 so I think its very generous of them to allow players who don't have the new consoles yet to enjoy their game. But Destiny 2 and any other will be full PS4 and Xbox one and fits already so amazing on Old and Current gen think how astounding it will be on the PS4 and Xbox one only.

That is selfish, ignorant trash that has no basis in reality. It's actually reverse.

Last Gen veteran vs New Gen 1080p warriors. Battle of the decades.
-
Yes, and I have all 4.
-
I think bungie knew a lot of people were still undecided on a next gen and that offering Destiny on last gen will motivate people to play it and love it that way when they upgrade they will buy it again. It's double sales for them and will help fund bigger and better sequels down the road.
-
They did the right thing making it for all systems. It's a new IP and they need to get it in as many hands as possible. Let's say the first game had come out 2 years ago; then I could see them not developing the second for ps3/360. It sucks but the unfortunate truth is they had to make it for all systems in order to break even financially.
-
Based on the sales for all four consoles already, Bungie made the right choice.
-
Who knows in some future updates they can beef up de FPS maybe make it 60 for the crucible i think in there it is more importand for now i am happy how it plays on the PS4
-
While I would have preferred it to be on the new gen, I'm glad it's cross console. Destiny is epic... and we gotta spread the love
-
I am Very happy that Destiny is on both gen since i only got a ps3. The game wouldn't have been much different if it was only ps4 xbox one anyway, And they planned this from the start wich is good to us poor players. Content and gameplay is the same anyway.

Edited by Crestfallen: 8/15/2014 7:13:17 AMI'd understand if the Destiny 2 were to be Next-Gen exclusive. But wishing they'd ignore last-gen so you can get 60fps and 1080p on your ps4 or XBone is kind of selfish.
-
there is still a lot of people on ps3/xbox
-
Edited by RebornV3: 8/15/2014 7:23:47 AMI say Yes the current gens got held back if this game was only for Xbox1 and PS4 this game would be ALOT better than it already is and would be without a doubt GOTY. But being that this is a new game series and most people are too cheap to get the new systems I understand why they opened up to Xbox360/PS3 they need to make as much money as they can to justify a sequel and to keep investors happy and plus having 60fps and 12v12+ MP modes are just something to look forward too in the next Destiny but I can't wait for the Division cause its only for Xbox1 and PS4 and the game will be a true next gen game and it already looks great to bad it got delayed but thats just more time to play Destiny.

I hate how people say "oh I want the best graphics for my game or I'm not happy" the graphics and fps are fine the way they are.
-
50% of the voters are selfish assholes
-
I voted no, and I have an XBONE but why 30fps on next-gen? I could understand if all xbox players and PS players could all play with their last-gen counterparts, but we cant.... why not make next-gen.... next-gen.
-
I im not a game programmer or anything, but hopefully not much was sacrificed just to get it on the 360 or ps3. But if you think about it. if people buy it for 360 and want to convert, they have to buy the game twice., I tried to play GTA5 on my 360, and my system couldnt handle. It was one of the newer stealth ones also.
-
I personally don't think so (I own a 360 btw). Think about it, Destiny is a new shooter and Bungie wants to build a fan base for their game. Making it a next gen exclusive would be a big mistake mainly because, correct me if I'm wrong, but there's still a mass majority of people on last gen consoles. But I wouldn't worry a bit because when our next destiny unfolds I'm sure it'll be only for next gen because most people will probably have a next gen console by then.
-
I really don't understand this illogical stupidity. Bf4 ran at 30fps on old gen AND had lower player count. But for next gen they boosted the resolution, player count AND to 60fps. So what was bungie thinking?
-
As a current Gen owner, I think it is fine supporting the older systems. The new ones do not have a large enough game library yet so many people would like to wait before making the upgrade. I wouldn't have have gotten an xbox one if not for everyone I know having one, and getting destiny for it. Also, they never announced it for PC my system of choice right now. Sacrifices had to be made.
-
I don't think the 360 and ps3 were the reason to leave the game in 30 fps
