Anyone else think it would be a good idea if while exploring and you come across a high level area that your not sure you wanna tackle alone, you could send out a distress call or flare to other guardians in the area to come to your aide

From what I've seen, the game seems easy enough to tackle on your own. If it's too difficult for just one person; then it's a place you probably shouldn't be. Other wise, that is what fire teams are for... Defiantly a neat idea though.

I like the idea, mainly for suprise public events, be good to have the back up. Otherwise it's easy on ya lary.
-
Love the idea
-
I like this. Get's people's attention
-
Great idea, sounds very original, could be useful under certain circumstances
-
I like it! Bump

You are a guardian with a gun. You don't need it and I certainly don't so...
-
Like it let's do it.
-
For the surprise public events, sure a few times I found myself on my lonesome, would have come in handy.
-
a distress call would be handy, abit like how in watch dogs it shows when online games are available, you just hit one of the d-pad buttons and you start connecting to that game
-
Bump!!

I like this idea, like in the campaign when an unknown guardian set up a fare right before the Fallen ship jumped in. However 12 year olds will be setting them off for no reason. Might help if it was an item you had to buy or acquire somehow so people just didn't light them off every 10 minutes,

Edited by gallp13: 8/10/2014 5:03:12 AMFlares are a tool that young or inexperienced Guardians often need. Instead of developing the capability to understand their strengths and weakens and test themselves too, but not beyond, their limits, young Guardians oft times venture into battles beyond their capability and may require assistance. Its a tough call, should you allow flares preventing the lesson that comes of poor judgement. Or provide flares guaranteeing safety but not growth in judgement. In the end it's all about the path each Guardian desires. Some Guardians prefer to learn and build their skills to become Legend others prefer a safer road and never quite realise their potential. The flares are in your Clan equipment locker young Guardian. Take them if you feel you need them...

When you check the roster, it also list people in the immediate area, you could send an invite.
-
Bite off more you can chew and fire off a flare? People seriously needs to own it and try to survive. You people want crutches in video games and in the game of life.
-
I would prefer an all around "Come here!" or "Look at this!" rather than an "I'm a dumb ass, come rescue me!" button.

Yeah, I actually like that idea alot! I've found myself taking on 8 public events and to my surprise, no one was around to help out. I was wondering if there were people on the other side of Old Russia or something, But I also see what others are saying, that this feature could be abused by unexperienced players or some people who just want to be jackasses. So maybe Bungie could add that tool exclusively for Public Events.

Absolutely. A light beacon in the air and an all-bands radio transmission. Great idea.
-
Bump.
-
I... actually like this idea.
-
That would be sick
-
The pointing gesture should also leave a waypoint when exploring
-
This would be great for when you find yourself alone in the ominous lighting signalling a Public Event. Happened a lot to me during the Beta with a certain Walker in Old Russia.

On the other side, if a public event kicks of, and I am on the other side of the map, I would love to get a signal, and an instant travel option to the event. That would be the shit.
