Just because you don't know how to use them doesn't mean the stats should be bumped up. If they are it'll become OP. Learn to use them and you won't have a problem.
If they get a buff the players who are already good with them will be completely unstoppable.

Friend, please. I love that Hand Cannons are in the game, but tell me what a HC can do that a Scout rifle can't. Scout have better range, faster reload, higher damage output per second... They need SOME form of tweak to give them an edge. I just feel the higher crit damage isn't enough of a reason on it's own.
-
Tyger did a really nice mathematical analysis of damage output, with critical damage as part of the analysis. He showed that hand cannons are, by way of fact, underpowered. They're a really fun weapon, but are not up to par. I believe it was also him that suggested bumping up the critical damage multiplier since hand cannons are meant to be used as a precision weapon.
-
Just because people say they are fine doesn't mean I want to use them..
-
As i have said time and time again...just boost the rate of fire a tad bit. That's it
-
Edited by IXAxiosXI: 8/6/2014 1:55:43 PMHand cannons were my favorite weapon in the beta. Even if you can use them skillfully they still need a tweak. I'm not a game developer so I'm not sure what needs changed. But it is definitely not on par with the other primaries.
-
I didn't use the hand cannon for the most part, instead i mostly used the Scout Rifle so i wouldn't know much about this subject, however i did use one at the start and i must admit it felt like it was lacking.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 8/6/2014 2:23:12 PMSorry bud, disagree. It may be different at higher levels, but Level 8 HCs are garbage. You're better off with a scout rifle.
-
The question that I have is, are the higher/rarer HCs going to have variety in their rates of fire? I like the hand cannon I only hate that it's a 6 shot revolver. Maybe there are other versions.
-
They are basically scout rifles with slightly increased damage, six rounds, and a long reload time. Are they fun to use? Yes. Are they practical? No.
-
Edited by Tyr-Thanatos: 8/6/2014 2:54:11 PMi had no problem with the hand canon...only that i had to reload at the worst times occasionally...im looking forward to getting the exotic "Thorn" hand cannon. would be kinda cool if they had a machine pistol in the game with a high capacity clip..something like a CZ VZ 61 CZECH Skorpion, or IvP-18Tropov for example :)

Edited by Twohothardware: 8/6/2014 3:08:56 PMThe Hand Cannon's especially in PvP are nothing more than Scout Rifles that have every stat but their Impact nerfed and even that is barely higher and makes no difference in how fast you can kill an enemy. In the beta they were not balanced and there was no reason to use them other than the fun aspect of carrying a pistol instead of a rifle. With all their other weaknesses with their slow rate of fire, worse accuracy, only 5-6 shots before reloading, ect they basically need to deal damage closer to the sniper rifles to be balanced. In PvP the higher damage ones need to be basically a 2-3 shot kill to the body and 1 OHK to the head.
-
Except using a scout gives you all the benefits of a cannon without the negatives. Go read Tyger's thread on it. It isn't about skill. If you're good with a hand cannon, you're better with a scout.
-
TC you are ignorant beyond belief, get a clue. You cant argue with statistical facts idiot.
-
Good in pve sucks in pvp
-
In PvP they suck. I laughed at people who used them because they were so easy to take out. I tried using one, I could do alright but the reload was to long to stay competitive, so they either need more rounds, or more power.
-
They are perfectly fine, my favorite weapon in the game are hand cannons, and the designs of the special ones are just sweet, love them..
-
Edited by Hollywoodtragedy018: 8/6/2014 3:28:48 PMDid anyone notice that the Hand cannon is the only primary for which you can earn a medal for using it it's called "high risk high reward"
-
Tips or GTFO
Seriously though, any tips on using them in PVP?
-
Edited by MysticJon: 8/6/2014 10:17:20 PMFor PvE they're fine. In PvP, they're pointless. They're essentially just inferior Scout rifles. They need an increased clip size, slightly increased rate of fire and more reserve ammo. That's it.

The only one thats decent is The Golden Gun
-
Oh bastage.
-
I disagree.

Bungie make a different hc for PVP wich can be adjusted with all the ideas mentioned in the forum, and make a hc for PVE which dont need to be adjusted at all. i am sure there will be several kinds of hc in the game, so adjust only 1special for PVP play.

Surely you jest
