How would you feel about "holiday events" in Destiny?
I remember playing Runescape (sue me) back in the day, and they always had holiday events that would last for a certain amount of time. How would you feel about things such as santa hats, jack o lantern heads, scarves, even a decorated tower?

3 RepliesKarmosity, I votd "No" and here's why.... While I like the idea of holiday events...keep in mind that the destiny community is multicultural and diverse. If Bungie decided to try and incorporate events that satisfy everyone's cultural beliefs and sensitivities it could prove to be quite a cumbersome task for the dev team. I believe that we all want to share in community events that bring us together while in game. Perhaps, this is a chance for Bungie to break the mold from traditional MMO's that observe real world holiday events in game and instead mark significant events in the destiny timeline... Ask yourself; what events would our guardians want to celebrate? rebirth, anniversary, significant dates that mark the communities progression through the destiny story arc. On top of this, we have limited vault space atm which unless it is changed would not allow us to keep some of the holiday collectibles that so many people enjoy showing off. Just my 2 cents... thanks for starting the discussion.

The best way I can describe Destiny is timing makes the world seem alive. Its a simple thing that makes me feel more attached to the world(s) Bungie has made in Destiny. I have a schedule and I live in reality, but say I play a game like GTA 4 Nothing closes and everything appears just as a way point, they feel less like an analogy for reality an more of stationary tools. Lord Saladan and the Iron Banner was great! At the same time the public events that seemed to occur at random, had a similar effect in the opposite direction. In my every day life I go to work and hit rush hour traffic, some times there is a crash or a lane closure that affects my schedule, same with these events. Bottom line Holiday events would be awesome because they will continue the trend of the analogy to reality when it comes to timing. This single design feature is what makes Destiny feel more alive than Halo. PLEASE BUNGIE a Destiny Halloween event would epic

Not only do players like holiday events, but this is an excellent way for game dev's to come and actually play With their players and have a little fun too. holiday events are usually a trademark of a true MMO but I think they'd fit well into the Destiny framework. I for one, would enjoy them. ;)

I think it's a great idea. They can kind of change the citadel (lobby) to match the holiday. They could also have rare holiday related enemies which can drop special pieces of armor or weapons which can only be obtained through these events. Worked pretty well in Phantasy Star Online. Could work well here as well.

hmm, Im thinking of finding golden Skulls during the helloween in devils lairs, bunny skins for ur ghost during the Easter, and maybe, I say naybe turkey as vihicle...

Not so much as holidays. More like 2 hour events each day, then have an event happen once a week on Saturday and have a monthly event.

3 RepliesI think it would be cool if we celebrated not holidays as we know them, but maybe holidays that are specific to Destiny. Perhaps like a "Traveler Day" celebrating the day the traveler arrived to us. Obviously with all that has happened to humanity in Destiny there are many milestones/events that the people of this time would celebrate.

Sure as long as they leave out the decorations. Maybe like holding a tournament which is you win you keep playing, you lose your out. With special rewards for those who progress further.

Yes, but within context. A santa hat on my guardian, NO. The tower decorated with elements of the season, sure. Maybe spruce up the ghost, give him a fresh new coat of <insert season colour here>. Also maybe class items of seasonal decoration. No exploding into candy/confetti enemies, no mistletoe drops for headshots. Nothing that breaks the core feel of the world just a respect for whatever time of year it is in the background and maybe a few shaders and skins for armors and vehicles. Dunno if i'm being too boring but i don't want to loose the feel of the game to christmas or easter or whatever holiday is on today

Eh....I'm fine with it, but I really don't think it should be armor. maybe exclusive weapons, an emblem, or a class item. But I really don't want santa's cheery face on my chestplate.

It's not entirely made up world, but more like a far away future, so most of the real holidays, like NYE should still be celebrated. It is definitely going to make the game more diverse.

Everyone like likes little events even if bungie has said destiny isn't a MMO but a 'shared fps adventure' its principles are of a MMO, also it adds depth to the game with special items, weapons you know the drill

Hunting down a hive version of santa at xmas would be nice easter eggs im explore at easter and some horrible scary events for halloween

I think this is a perfect game to add in special gear around holidays or bungie day. There are going be tons of good weapons regardless or it can be cosmetic but it gets people back on the game after there has been updates to it. hopefully a Christmas theme strike

1 ReplyI already commented and I dont know if this has been said or not but I said about some ideas for holiday specific rewards, well, imagine if there was skins fo your ghost as a reward, so you could get one with a little Santa hat on Christmas 2014, then Christmas 2015 it could have antlers, etc, thatd be cool!

I don't agree with real world holidays being included in a game such as this, however they could have special holiday events revolving around the announce / beta & release dates and add some traveller Loire to tie it into the game.

1 ReplyIm not going to tell people they shouldnt, I just find it more of an annoyance, since it always seems so out of place in the game world to me. Kind of like those awkward and very obvious product placements in movies. Everytime I see it I roll my eyes and try to pretend I didnt witness it or that I am not totally taken out of character or story or whatever I may be doing.

I think it would be a great idea, of course the rewards cant be stuff like powerful weapons and Armour but a paint job or Santa hat or maybe a background, just something fun and cosmetic to show your dedication ya know?
