I remember playing Runescape (sue me) back in the day, and they always had holiday events that would last for a certain amount of time. How would you feel about things such as santa hats, jack o lantern heads, scarves, even a decorated tower?
EDIT: thanks to Chocomcbo, he found source from a Q&A video where they talk about Holiday Events. skip to 1:34:00

Everybody gets a free exotic for Christmas
if they've played Destiny since the first month
-
I want to fight a wizard in a Santa costume
-
Where's the option that says -blam!-ING YES!!!!!
-
Yyyyyeeeessss!!!!
-
yea i would love to have holiday event within destiny like christmas, easter and other holiday event as it could add seasonal emblems and shaders
-
Runescape. I -blam!-ing loved that game. I loved Santa Hats and Party Hats. I want a Santa Hat in Destiny!!!!
-
Cause it keeps the game alive an fun who would think snowman aliens would be on Pluto planning to kill everyone than we come in like Santa clause in the middle of the night kicking some ass :D
-
i actually figured this would be expected...yes they do mention this in a Q&A and to be honest its sorta what makes niche game community's like this flourish...great lil in game events with decorations and maybe special items to collect on said event days, maybe even along with event bountys or side missions...i would love a Christmas side mission in which we either have to find a tree for the tower or we have to kill a Christmas themed mini boss..big ass Christmas tree with a face maybe
-
cause i want to kill uglies with a santa titan
-
why you ask? because.
-
As someone said before, It would make the game feel alive. But I think a smart thing to do would to use Multinational or Multicultural holidays, and some made up ones to fit the world of Destiny, maybe the day the Golden Age began.
-
I dunno but you totally have my old emblem.
-
Make up the Hollidays like guild wars did,
-
You forgot the "Don't Care(don't explain why)" option.
-
Holiday events are awesome usually bringing some cool styles and cosmetic stuff or even some sick weapons only for those events

Edited by SnakeDoc518: 8/17/2014 6:50:44 AMi would totally be down for a christmas gun that shoots exploding elves(or maybe exploding snowballs)....or some santa armor... imagine the tower at christmas...christmas trees everywhere with little ghost and traveler ornaments on them, lights, and decorations everywhere....could be wicked... and new year's day could be a blast....everyone partying up at the tower...would be like a huge middle finger to the fallen....

the over 2000 votes at the time of me posting this is why.

it be fun to celebrate say new years day with double glimmer drops. it had to be something neutral, like new years, destiny's launch day and bungie day and none of the religious or national holidays as it should allow ppl of different back ground to enjoy and celebrate. personally I don't care what or whose holiday we celebrate as long as I get my loot lol ;D
-
I have no problem with it, as long as they're not silly or blatantly celebrating a RL event.
-
Wouldn't mind an easter egg hunt or snowball fight in the tower when appropriate.
-
Being that the core game takes place on Earth, it actually makes sense that some holidays are still remembered.
-
Yes x 1,000,000,000 Seriously. Add holiday-themed ONE-TIME items every year and give us every reason in the world to come back to the game. I never want the Destiny experience to end.
-
I think a themed tower kind of like naturals selection 2 would be pretty nice and like one themed exotic wpn per holiday
-
I don't think it'd be a good idea to have Santa hats or Jack o' Lanterns, but I'd love weather changes. Things like snow in the Winter, leaves falling off the trees in the Fall, or some flowers in the Spring.

Karmosity, I votd "No" and here's why.... While I like the idea of holiday events...keep in mind that the destiny community is multicultural and diverse. If Bungie decided to try and incorporate events that satisfy everyone's cultural beliefs and sensitivities it could prove to be quite a cumbersome task for the dev team. I believe that we all want to share in community events that bring us together while in game. Perhaps, this is a chance for Bungie to break the mold from traditional MMO's that observe real world holiday events in game and instead mark significant events in the destiny timeline... Ask yourself; what events would our guardians want to celebrate? rebirth, anniversary, significant dates that mark the communities progression through the destiny story arc. On top of this, we have limited vault space atm which unless it is changed would not allow us to keep some of the holiday collectibles that so many people enjoy showing off. Just my 2 cents... thanks for starting the discussion.
