let's be real here.

I'm 26 years old, and my experience with games is predominantly with first person shooters( battlefield), and mmorpgs like Warcraft which heavily relied on team-based gameplay and communication for success. Having read many of the posts so far I can safely say that most players will never reach end-game gear or dungeons assuming Bungie is designing raids and flash points like their predecessors. Frankly, those who have played MMOs know it doesn't matter how much time is spent playing this game ( as many are already going to be spending 100+ hours per week lol). I will be discussing the top reasons below: 1) Maturity. Players who are highly tolerant of failure, never succumbing to hissyfits are much more likely to find a spot with serious clans. 2) Focus. This means no excessive chatter about nonsense, seeing issues as they arise and correcting them without someone telling you to, constructive guidance of team mates, etc. Especially during the final 20% of the boss's health, how many people start to panic in that critical moment? 3) Raid Awareness. Seriously this is probably the most important reason most never succeed. You simply are not aware of all the going-ons in your environment. Where your teammates are, where the enemies are, how the battle map is changing, what's being said on the microphone by the leaders and key players, all happening simultaneously. Raiding is a multi-tasking activity. These are my primary reasons for now, but as raiding exists right now, and this is not coming from an elitist perspective- no matter how many hours you put in, experience with COD or being "lone wolves" will not give you an advantage. Most will most likely get groups, but never advance, and this is why games like Warcraft had to cater to bad players through matchmaking and dumbing down end-game content.

All I know is my clan will go far in end game content.

        • All you've stated is in Army leadership doctrine, it's all summed up to situational awareness. Force on force, force multipliers, combat effectiveness and so on. I like your POV, nice post.

        • 1) As a person who played WoW for 3 years (I quit for multiple reasons) and also played FFXIV:ARR for awhile, I can say that most people are not mature enough to handle a several hour raid. IMO I am very glad that bungie is not adding matchmaking because they would be giving in to the whiners threats (a lot of people are threatening to cancel their preorders if Bungie doesn't add MM). 2) Even though I do have a clan made of a few friends that is ready for end-game content, I still feel that they may not be mature enough to take it seriously as they like to be more of a nuisance than a team player. After hours upon hours of multiplayer with them, I don't think that they will be the primary people that I choose to raid with as this will not be the first time I have done a raid. 3) I cannot not express how much I agree with this forum post and I truly understand what you are trying to get people to understand.

          • I loved WoW and the dungeon/raid play style, I feel like these raids will be very demanding and I am looking to climb the ladder, can't wait to see where it takes us.

          • Thanks for the post . What you are also telling people is that they should pass on Destiny as they will never make it to end game content. And since that is the purpose of Destiny after level 20, most people don't stand a chance. For most players the game ends at level 20 when the story is done. Save their $60 to $120 for something else more suitable for them as Destiny will not be it.

I don't like to use mics but I agree with pretty much everything you said. I wouldn't even want to play with most of these whiners, let alone go on a raid with them. You, on the other hand, seem to know what you are talking about. I'd be honored to raid with you should our paths cross in-game.

            • I agree with this. Although Bungie stated that they expect the first raid to be completed on normal within the first week, the harder difficulty may be a different story. On the first play through it's expected to take a group 3+ hours to complete the raid on normal. That time will lessen considerably for those who become familiar with the content. However, how many people will invest enough hours to learn the raid and make it that much easier? It definitely wouldn't be the majority of the people who would opt to match make that experience. For anyone who played the alpha you should know how hard the difficulty spikes from normal to hard. The devils lair was substantially harder on hard mode in the alpha. For some reason they only gave us two variations of normal mode in the beta, so many people have not experienced just how difficult the content can become, and it sounds like raids will bump that to another level.

              • Truth. If only you saw the community before *sigh* Now it is just so, ridiculously, almost hilariously bad... Everyone is either 12 and under, acts 12 and under, lbgt white knights on a -blam!-ing gaming site..., CoD fags, role players, gimmick accounts, spammers or middleschool level trolls. I've been making my vault of glass team if you want to get on board. Have 3 experienced raiders, my old competitive halo partner from our tourney winning team. All over 18 and patient. You can PM me if interested.

                • Summed up pretty nicely. But I think you're expecting too much. These raid even in the hardest setting aren't going to be close to the difficultly of MMO raids. 6 people on a FPS just won't have the variables and chaos thats indicative of MMO raids. It'll be like the raid bosses of Borderlands 2. Someone will figure out a huge glitch to be exploited and by the time its fixed half of the community will have already beaten it.

                    • Fact is there isn't going to be much strategizing in this game, everyone has a gun, grenade, jetpack, and super. No other skills or abilitys that will need to be used at proper times and such. I just cant see it being nearly as hard as any mmorpg. So lone wolves and CoD experience will be just fine.

                          • From playing ffxiv:arr its seriously no point in the blind match making for the raids. People are so disorganized and have no idea what to do. Then you ask who needs help. No one responds and you get past phase 1 and two people are clueless. You again try to talk to them and get nothing. You explain the fight still and they still screw up. All it takes is one person to screw up something as small as standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and its a team whipe. Then people get pissed off and leave.

                          • I fully agree with this post. I've played MMO's and did a lot of raiding so raids in Destiny will not be a foreign thing to me. Looking forward to them. I'll be playing on 360 until I can upgrade to the one.

                          • I agree with you sir. It is very frustrating trying to find others that can handle the maturity and intensity of said issues. I personally find them very enjoyable, as I find it very fun/rewarding when your hard work pays off. The crazier the better :p . If there are other players out there who feel the same way, feel free to add my PSN. PS4 - Wolf_32 . Quality players are invaluable :) . http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/165383
