So I have been seeing a lot of debate over matchmaking in raids. I am happy with it not being in the game. However I also understand that some players don't know anyone that they can raid with.
I've seen people on this site looking for fire teams that they could raid with when the game releases and it made me think of this idea. (I have no idea if this has been said yet or not, if it has feel free to just ignore this entire post)
What if rather than a randomized matchmaking they instead did a form of recruitment where anyone interested in raiding could go to a set place. They would then be picked up by an incomplete fire team or could join with others looking for a group to create their own raiding party. The benefit this has over matchmaking is you are choosing your companions.
You could also just make this a list you put your name on and then other guardians can view your profile to see if they want you to join them. This way people who don't have a fire team and fire teams that don't have enough people can still do raids while maintaining the option to reject or ignore players they don't want with them.
The tower is a social hub where players can meet in a non combat environment and prepare for their next adventure into the wild. So you could put an area in the tower used for this option.
There may already be something similar in the game which we have not seen yet because we have not yet gotten to do any raiding (Possibly this is what the lounge/bar under the ship wright is used for).
