Paramount Pictures Australia is apologizing for and immediately discontinuing a poster from the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” film that contains an image reminiscent of the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy.
On the Australia poster, the four hero turtles are shown jumping out of an exploding skyscraper with the Australia release date of Sept. 11 in red lettering below.
“We are deeply sorry to have used that artwork for the marketing materials promoting the September 11 opening in Australia,” said Tom Roache, head of publicity for Paramount Pictures Australia, in an email. “Combining that image and date was a mistake. We intended no offense and have taken immediate action to discontinue its use.”
Would you say this is political correctness gone too far?

I saw that, it wasn't referencing 9/11, it was them jumping out of a burning building with the date 9/11 as the release date or something and some people picked up on it

Edited by Gatsby: 7/31/2014 10:35:45 PMThat 9/11 cow has been milked for so long the nipples have turned blue. It's just butthurt people being butthurt.
-
Where are the pics?
-
Anything to stop this criminal attack on our childhoods.
-
Oh, that's it? People are just being melodramatic as per usual
-
I saw this a few days ago. People really need to stop living in the past.
-
It's crazy that it's such a big deal because it's really not. Sure maybe it wasn't the best idea to have a movie poster with an exploding building with 9/11 as the release date but people need to let it go now and not take everything so seriously. Osama is dead guys.
-
Um.. Ok?
-
That's kinda funny.

Edited by Psy: 7/31/2014 11:12:49 PMIt's times like this that I would kill to have a video of Overreaction jackson. Sadly I can't find one :l Stupid was such a funny show, I hope the BBC reairs it sometime. Anyway, this is utterly stupid. It's an unintentional mistake and it was done for the Aussies who would write the date as 11/9/14.
-
I can see that they don't want to offend anyone and I respect them for that.
-
Is it bad I don't care about tragedies that don't directly affect me?
-
Makes sense
-
So basically, building + explosion = 9/11 reference? 9/11 was 13 years ago for god sake, Get over it.
-
Geez, everything offends someone nowadays, really, it's a poster! What the hell!
-
I agree with biosmiley
-
Look at you. Like fat Dathrasi you feed, and feed, and complain only when your meal is interrupted. You do not look up. You do not see that the grass is bare. All you leave in your wake is misery. You are blind; I will make you see!
-
This is pathetic.
-
It's just a -blam!-ing poster.
-
Oh my god, Someone that is American, call them up and let them know, we don't care and that image has nothing to do with 911. Now I want to buy that poster though since this issue gives it value. Get me that poster!
-
I would say that this is a stupid reason to remove a poster but the release date is September 11th. That being said, I couldn't care less whether it's removed or not.
-
I really hate political correctness. People need to grow a thicker skin and stop being so damn sensitive.
-
Man people are so pathetic and sensitive sometimes.
-
Political correctness is a cancer.
-
no one really cares about 9/11 anymore, I mean it was almost 13 years ago...shit happens.
-
People are so -blam!-ing sensitive.
