I've done it. I've figured out some common stances shared among those pushing for Raid matchmaking. (There are of course others, such as those who have no conceptual idea of what a "Raid" actually is or commitment it entails--this is just a general list) Please feel free to correct me if any of these points are somehow incorrect.
1. You WANT to experience this highly cooperative/teamwork oriented content.
2. You do NOT want to actively assemble your own team, or vet the members of said team, with which you will be stuck with in a joint endeavor for the next 3+ hours.
3. You DO think putting together a team yourself will take too long.
4. You do NOT think the actual Raid (with 5 randoms from matchmaking) will take too long.
5. You DO think your refusal to put any effort (beyond clicking a button and joining a matchmaking pool) into preparing to access the highest tier of end-game PvE content is Bungie's fault and failure rather than your own.
How'd I do? Did I miss anything?
Note: I understand some people argue that matchmaking in-game is the same as inviting 5 randoms from a forum. You would be right, but with one major caveat. In the 5 randoms from a forum scenario, you can look these people up beforehand. You can do something that the majority of today's gamers have no concept of--due diligence. You have freedom to decide who you invite, and who you're going to get stuck with for the next 3+ hours. This is not the case with matchmaking. Who you get is who you're stuck with. Unless you decide you'd rather not put up with it and just leave (which really only supports the case of why matchmaking is a terrible idea because now you just left your "teammates" hanging).
