IGN just posted a pretty brief video of what its like to play with a guardian higher than lvl 20. At 1:09 pause the video and you will see him highlight his level, where it shows the level bar of his motes of light. The bar doesent have a green line at the end showing you've reached the max like the beta did, does this mean its infinite or could it stop at 50? People have recently been giving this game hell of backlash for not having enough content (compare the final game to titanfall and I bet you'll think again) and I was wondering if lvl 50 is enough content to make the back lash on this game come to an end. Destiny will be amazing, I believe Bungie will provide us with more than enough content, if not now, then somewhat on the future. So write your concerns, if you agree, or if you know for a fact it doesn't go higher than 30-40 in the comments below.

If it stops at 50 people would complain that it's not 75 or 100

Motes of light are just a currency you gain from "leveling" past 20 with exp

I wouldn't be surprised to see the level cap raised with the expansions.

You will probably never reach 50. 20 is the cap. To get past that you need Light stat (since you get motes of light from EXP after level 20, and not another level) Armor you equip is what gives you that stat, and from the looks of it, 118 Light = 9 levels, so its about 12-13 light to gain 1 level. WIth that being said, the armor we have seen so far gave him about +30 light each, even if we up that to + 50 each (for a total of 200 light) thats only about 16 levels. I doubt we will see armor with +100 light for EACH PIECE, which is approximately what you will need to get another 30 levels to 50. This is of course assuming that the limit doesnt plateau at some point. For all you know, the maximum light you can get is 120-130, in which case the true cap will be at level 30.

that bar that you see is how much exp you need until you get a mote of light which is a currency. Light from armor that effects your level is different.

Edited by aboniks: 7/31/2014 5:56:51 PMWhat if the number next to your name doesn't determine how much fun you have, how much stuff there is to do, or how many people buy the sequel? Maybe we should wait and play the game first before we decide that level grinding is going to be relevant to Destiny gameplay in the same way that it is in most other games. Or we could just make wild ass unfounded assumptions and ignore the fact that they already gave us an example of a play mode where level disparities are completely negated (the crucible) and people had a blast playing it.
