I can see the reasoning behind the move for fireteam only voice. But i do think it would be beneficial and think it would be incredibly helpful in some situations to have it turned on based on proximity or just for your team in pvp. If you play solo and constantly get put into fireteams you cant communicate, if you are a team of 2 in a fireteam and someone else who is new joins, you cant help them out so you all dont fail a mission (for example, telling them the crit points on the devil walker, not to revive you because your timer only has 5 seconds left etc). Also in pvp it could be good for team cohesion. On the other hand then you have the troll kids who like to scream into the mic and try to deafen people or play music to everyone in the lobby etc. It would be good to have voice chat enabled with a mute function and either monitor how many players in a lobby mute them or possibly just a report system for people who abuse the functionality and try and ruin the experience for everyone else. The game already has a report system in place why not extend the system to enable reporting for situations such as that, and after a certain number in an hour/day, strip their voice chat for a certain amount of time... Im sure they would fall into line reasonably quick.
