[i]That's the point of public fireteams, right?[/i] I usually go deliberately into the social hub to try and find a fireteam I can join. But doing so could be made easier with a minimalistic visual marker next to those who set their fireteam to 'public'. This way it's not necessary to interrupt the game by going to the roster menu. When encountering others during story or explore mode, this would be even more handy. Simply looking at players in the distance and instantly spotting who is ready for me to join their party... that's just bliss. I mean, menus are already kept to a minimum in this game, why not even go that small extra step.
