NO SOCIAL CHAT?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!
I don't know why this isn't a bigger issue. I think this is a huge misstep in the game. I was wondering why nobody was responding to me when I'm asking everyone do you have a mic?! haha Seriously was difficult to get people to work together when trying to accomplish a task or showing someone where a chest was. What a mess. I really enjoy the game mostly but what kind of interactive game is that that is built around team work and a league of "Guardians" that can't speak to each other in an open world? Pointing, sitting, saluting and dancing is fun but kinda hacky if that is our only form of communication. I get there are trolls out there but at least give us the option of muting folks or not. Don't rely on players to have all their friends on when they play and let us meet people that are on when we are. A game is supposed to pull us in and make us feel like we are living in the world that you made for us. What kind of communications are the Guardians we are supposed to be playing have if we don't have speech? Even if you gave us a list of cued task responses to select, how convenient would that be in the middle of a huge firefight? Wouldn't it just be easier to say something to your teammates? Cmon guys. Fix this miscalculation and make the game 100%. Unfortunately I feel it seriously does affect the gameplay of the world you created.

8 RepliesOpen mic communication with everyone encourages antisocial behavior. Bungie is trying to cultivate a positive social environment. I'm sure there was a better way to do it, but opening mics to everyone in public areas is ASKING for people to be douchebags.

5 RepliesWhat? Chat only works within your fireteam. They even tweak your voice when you use the game chat so it sounds all crazy. Echoes in caves and empty buildings and shit. Enjoy COD.

No open voice chat please. Restrict it to fireteams and PVP only.

1 ReplyI agree it needs some form of proximity chat and full team chat when in pvp. You dont want proximity chat turn it off. You want to use it but some ppl annoy you? Mute them. How are we supposed to build a community when noone can communicate with others unless you alrdy know them. You can even make it so you can block someone so he cant appear in uour game if you want to. That way they cant annoy you in other ways either.

You need people to talk for callouts in competitive gameplay. Bungie really -blam!-ed that up and better fix it on the game

No matter what there is in the game for communicating or not communicating with other players you will always have someone finding ways to annoy. At times it would be nice to be able to actually talk to the people you come across.............

1 ReplyCertain areas should have Prox chat like say the lounge area under the Hangar. Or in the lounges surrounding the factions. Perhaps a Control center like the one that the Vanguards stand in but meant for players. The whole tower though probably turn into pit of hell if ran completely through it.

Warframe on PS4 have text chats and they work fine. It would have been awesome if they atleast implemented a chat for Tower.

If it was up to me, I would implement close range (and I mean very close range) proximity chat. That way, either in the tower or out in the frontier, guardians would be able to better organize themselves and forge alliances.
