I think the Titan has the worst Melee of all and needs to have better range. The other two classes have a ranged Melee. The warlock's can hit enemies that aren't too far away and the hunter has a freaking throwing and by far the best Melee. The Titan though you have to be right on top of them and makes it less effective when compared to the other melees.
