Is radar too vague and/or hard to read?

While playing PvP it comes very clear that most of playerbase has no clue what radar is or how to read it. Is design of radar too vague? Shades of red at least are very bad if in building with multiple floors and different shade is different elevation. Shades are too similar to each other. Also is most outer approach indicator too weak to notice? Small sliver of red at edge of strongly chromatic aberrationed radar. Should game have very clear tutorial for using and reading radar right? It's so painful in PvP when you see a lot players that are 100% clueless that there is enemy 20 meters behind them because they can't read radar. Also red sectors? At least then have proper colorblind modes or you will -blam!- certain part of playerbase over because they can't see said color.

  • Better yet, just remove the radar

  • I'd like for it to be moved or movable. Ps4 blocks it all the time

  • I think the radar needs a little work. It needs a little more detail when it comes to proximity. There is a guy right around the corner. But is he 10 feet away or 30 feet. That's the only thing I'd like to see changed.

  • Radar is fine (But could use some color blind friendly support options) Its not supposed to replace looking around for enemies. Its more like an early warning to compensate for the lack of ability to move our "necks" around like we normally do in real life to maintain awareness. No matter how detailed it gets some people will ignore it anyway. On the flip side, a radar that is too detailed would also pose problems. If I can see specific enemies and their relative positions on radar it makes it trivial to ambush them (Think the way hunters can disappear from radar) it opens up a lot of ways to camp for kills. Keeping it intentionally vague forces you to keep on your toes for lack of certainty.

Not going to lie. Some of this is fairly valid and others not so much. I'm sorry but lots of dummies play this game and we can't cater to all of them. If I person can't figure out that the red bar on the S side of Rader means people are behind him well then... he should probably put the controller down anyways. I also think they should leave it in the aspect of not knowing how many targets are coming. This isn't cod. if that's what you want, go play cod. The Radar is designed so it only gives what direction a heat source is coming from. Part of the challenge my friend. Same with if their below or above. I mean you can bet if the center is flashing and you can't see them their probably above or below you lol. Why it isn't status quo to have colorblind assist on video games is beyond me. Complete bull if you ask me, just lazy. I myself am not colourblind but my roomie Is and believe me the struggle is real lol.

Radar is too vague. If your oponent gets too close to you the center just glows red, but you have no idea if hes on your left or right, making it a guessing game. Also, unless your opponents are comming from Different directions, its impossible to tell if its multiple people coming or just one. That one is important. If you are outnumbered the obvious choice is too run, but with the way the radar is now you always have to take a gamble.

    • Tbh it's fine if you can't work it out that's kinda the players issue. Bungie can't patch stuiped. Colour blind does not mean the colour vanishes just you can't tell the difference between shades. You still pick up its their. So as long as you use only one shade your fine. Eyre still pick up the tone change as well. *please correct if wrong I think i got tone and shade the wrong way round

      • Radar is even more difficult to read for the colorblind.

      • I quite like the radar design. However, I'll admit it's not as easy to read as the halo radar and you can't really avoid being spotted unless someone is looking down scopes or you crouch for one second. Improvements: -If you're crouching, you should not appear on the radar. Stealthiness is not an option in crucible at the moment, even with invisibility. -the radar should not be see through. Many maps (especially on bastion) have very bright walls. As an example, when I'm capturing C and looking at the small door, there is too much light behind the radar and I'm completely blind to any approaching enemies. -colourblind options. I'm not colourblind, but I understand that many other people are and cannot read the radar correctly. -it should be clear whether an enemy is above or below you on the radar. -there should be game types for crucible and maybe strikes and missions that disable the radar.

I sort of think the radar should be turned off. Or offer a game mode that's like this since technically that would be like hardcore in COD.

I'm color blind so an option to pick the color of the motion tracker would be cool. I lose the red in the green background.

        • The radar is fine. The main I don't like hard core modes without radar is if turns into a sniper/camp fest especially in tdm. I only play control but it would just be another reason for me to not pay tdm

        • Any one who can't use this is an imbecile. How is it confusing? If you know how a normal radar works you can figure out proximity and direction, then the first time you run in circles looking for that dull ping that says it's right next to you and someone hops down and murders you as the ping gets bright you should be able to figure out elevation.

        • I watched a dreg walk in circles around my friend for about ten seconds. In the middle of a moon patrol. After we were both above lvl 27. My friend couldn't find him, and he wasn't shooting my friend. Yeah, it was funny but sad at the same time.

        • You need to Look at it. It's not something you should just be glancing at. That's how you miss information. Half my matches I'm looking at the radar. That's what tells you where people are so why wouldn't you be studying it whenever you're not shooting at people.
