Size of the game (with source)

All right guys, I have been waiting to post this, but last night DeeJ confirmed, that there will be 1 explorable location per planet and this basically also confirmed, that the following source is realible: http://destinydb.info/activities (edit: the creator of the website asked me to write that the info is from 30.June) I browsed this website a lot and realized how endgame content is going to work. To sum it up: Before you read on: this may or may not be how the final product is going to look like. It is just a speculation based on the website mentioned above. I do not want to convince you about anything, but I'm sure if you browse that site you will come to a similar conclusion. Beware, this may contain spoilers!!! - 4 explorable locations (Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus) - 6 strikes (1 Earth, 1 Moon, 2 Mars, 2 Venus. However one of the Mars strike is PS exclusive.) - 1 raid (The Vault of Glass) - 16 pvp maps It's already been told, that we are going to hit lvl 20 quickly. So what happens after this? We are going to have the possibility to run a random strike (accessible from the orbit) on a higher level: -lvl18 -lvl20 -lvl22 -lvl24 For example the Devil's Lair is going to be there on those difficulties. But how can you achieve a level over 20? It is well documented, that you can get to lvl 20 by collecting XP. In order to gain additional levels, you need to obtain gear with "light stat" . Light gives you additional level. So, what you are going to do, when you hit 20? You will go to lvl 20 strikes to get gear with light. I suspect, that the strikes and rewards will be scaled, so that you have to spend a lot of time on a level in order to get access to the next one. What happens, when you hit lvl 24 and finished farming all the high level strikes? You go to weekly strikes This means, that every week there is going to be a strike on an even higher level. -lvl24 -lvl26 -lvl28 For example Devil's Lair is going to be this strike from 09.sept. - 16.sept. And so on. This mode is called: Nightfall After you cleared all the weekly strikes you go to the Vault of Glass. It will be on lvl27, lvl31 and lvl31. EDIT_1: I also found something called "Activity Power" associated to every activity on that website. I think it's the true scale of difficulty of each activity. For example: lvl 8 - Devil's Lair = Activity Power 0,37 lvl 20 - Devil's Lair = Activity Power 8 lvl 24 - Devil's Lair = Activity Power 53 lvl 28 - Devil's Lair = Activity Power 98 lvl 31 - Vault of Glass = Activity Power 132 This will take time Guardians! EDIT_2: Meanwhile basically the same Information appeared on Destiny Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2bv20d/spoilers_this_is_what_we_can_reasonably_expect_at/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

  • Deej didn't confirm anything. Until he says "There is only one explorable zone per planet" I think we are all interpreting this our own way. Personally I just thought he meant four destinations (Earth. Moon, Venus, and Mars) but there could be multiple locations. I mean why would they make concept art for so many locations and then only have Russia. The concept art included Old Chicago, Mumbai, European Dead/Flood zone, and the Twilight Gap. HERE IS THE KICKER http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/10/destiny-multiplayer-mars-blind-watch-reveal-developer-walkthrough-ign-first?watch This is a link to the mars map tour where a 2:26 they said they work with the people who work on SP to derive from to get the art design for MP. http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/07/04/the-ign-first-game-for-july-is-destiny SO this second one shows a map from the twilight gap, which an area that can be seen from the last city and is definitely not Old Russia. You get small glimpses at 9 and 12 seconds. Why would they have multiplayer maps that aren't derived from SP art styles if he said the maps do exactly that? People need to use their brains.

    • How about we enjoy the game Bungie made for us to play. Why does the size of the universe matter? It should be about the content that is inside that world. And based in what I saw in the Beta we are in for one hell if a ride.

      • Even if there's only one location per planet, people are assuming those locations will be small just based on what they've seen in the beta. I think old Russia is probably going to be bigger than people expect.

      • While your logic is sound, if you are to take that database as a source you may want to look at this. It seems to me that both Mercury and Saturn are locations in the final game. http://destinydb.info/locations/places Before anyone points it out that Mercury is a crucible map, notice how the Vex is mentioned in the description. This suggests to me that we'll be fighting the Vex on Mercury. This picture also suggests we will be headed to Mercury outside of the crucible since that shot isn't one we've seen so far during the Crucible intros. http://i.imgur.com/BnZVUu1.jpg I also implore you to observe the location seen in this video at 4:49 . This is clearly not Old Russia, as the Traveler cannot be observed in Old Russia. I also find it unlikely to be the Twilight Gap crucible map, after watching IGN's recent tour of the map, no such cliff seems to be there. While I doubt there will be more than one location per planet, it is still something to thing about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRRKtkuOeig#t=299 In my humble opinion, you are likely correct in the assumption that we shall only have 23 story missions. But I feel that Saturn, Mercury and possibly Europa will be opened up to explore after the story has finished, since they have often stated that there will be plenty to do once the story is finished.

      • People, people, people, it works like old russia, one palce to fly to on each planet, then move around to different areas in that one place, we havent even seen all of old russia yet we still have the bunker and kings watch, the graveyard and the dry sea to explore there, and the places underground blocked off by ??? level enemies, the places are big, its just you dont pick where you drop down specifically.

        • Urk commented about this:
Destiny's pretty big. It's the biggest game we've ever made, by far, and we're sort of known for making games you can play for months, years, and even decades if you're a little bit...dedicated. With Destiny, we're looking to exceed what we've done before, not just in terms of scale - the Moon is our smallest destination - but in terms of scope and breadth of activities. That's true for day one, as you expect, but it also means we want Destiny to have super long legs. If we're fortunate enough to have you playing months after launch, you still find lots of compelling stuff to do. That will manifest itself in a myriad of ways, from straight up content to cool activities we've yet to show off. We think we did a decent job supporting Halo, post launch, but we were only ever able to cater to the competitive set. That left a lot of players out in the cold. That made a lot of the team grumpy. We wanted to do better. So, Destiny is philosophically built support every type of player, and all modes with ongoing activities and events. We look at it quite a bit like television programming, as opposed to a singular film, as we had in the past. We think it's gonna be pretty great, but we wanted to test out a bunch of our new stuff with Beta, to make sure we could flip knobs and levers live, reacting and responding with lots (and, ho boy, did we see LOTS) of players online and playing. Beta was water wings. Level 8 is nothing. You barely scratched the surface, and it seems like some folks had fun with what was there. If you did, good news. More soon.
• I think people are acting a bit entitled here regarding DLC. Video games are made by businesses that are looking to make a profit. Releasing one game for 60+ dollars and then committing to 10 years with the game without expecting people to pay extra for DLC is a poor business model. Bungie doesn't owe us anything.

Love how everybody keeps speculating this, we got less then 10% of the final product. Why is everybody under the assumption that the only other places in Old Russia we couldn't get to where blocked off by ??? Enemies. There were at least 20-30 doors an walkways that are blocked by the Darkness/Black Smoke. Because they were areas we had to walk through to complete Missons so they couldn't stick ??? Enemies there. Counted at least another 10 that had out of place objects or just straight up fancy doors beckoning your name, that were blocked. An that's just what I personally had paid attention to an came across, I mainly played PVP I don't think we even got a quarter of Old Russia , an most of this OP should not be taken as confirmed. There is an image from E3 of Venus showing 7 Missions, 2 raids so that throws this post's credibility out the window already. Look at other RPG's an open world games, you don't start out with millions of points on the map, you start with 1-4 an it grows as you play. You also spend lot of time traveling back to old locations for different quest. Once your past your preliminary trials so to speak an your in the thick of games like that, your map is so full of quests an icons sometimes you don't know what to do next. The possibilities are endless with this game being a Scifi title. An even if it's just a tad bit more then what's on the list, name something that has been this fun an thrilling in the past 3 years. Because I can't name 1, an it was just a beta.

              • Although you are trying to be helpful, you are wrong. There will be way more than just Old Russia in Earth, so in turn, there will be more than 4 explorable zones. Same with Venus, Mars, etc. Also, one raid is highly unlikely. That would be stupid on Bungie's part, and I know that there will be more than just one raid.

                  • I think what could be good about Destiny is that it's an expandable game, I mean they could probably add in more locations of different planets easily... They've given people a taste with the beta and now people want more, it's going to be a bit like another taste with the full game, many people will be satisfied with just that, but many will want more, that's where they release new locations, DLCs and all kinds of things. That is what will probably make Destiny the long term game people are so sceptical about it actually becoming.

                  • Speaking of Destiny's dimensions i'm concerned that a certain point the new places to explore will end.. I know that every game in the world has an end but I would really like that THIS game, in which I (and we) had so much fun, won't end in what there will be in the final version. I mean Bungie said that this game is going to be mantained, I hope they will widen it too. I Believe More Than Ever After Seeing Beta In Action.
