[spoiler][/spoiler] SO I was playing the moon mission that bungie just released for the destiny beta and I wanted to explore to find some crates. So, I did. Exploring for crates lead me to other areas of the map that bungie probably doesn't want you to see (or maybe they are just really cool). I was able to play through some higher level mission areas.
