My feedback after playing too much Destiny

After playing more than 60 hours in Alpha and Beta combined here's a few things that I would want to see improved - more item drops during gameplay, less after the match is completed (it's more satisfying to pick engramms up instead of randomly getting items at the final scoreboard!) - generally there should be a bigger focus on dropped loot than it has right now, that's the most fun and rewarding aspect in a game like Destiny - we should have a discoverable map of the whole area accessible through the menu, just for better orientation and to find your teammates - more diverse spawns, not always the same mobs at the same places... even a simple solution like overspawn/underspawn would be cool so that sometimes more, sometimes less mobs spawn - rare spawns with higher drop chances (like rare-mobs in WoW) so that it's fun to re-visit locations at different times and levels - bigger focus on exploration than on simple combat, we need more loot crates, more hidden caves, more special places which you can only access with a vehicle or double jump, etc. - road kills, especially with Sparrows and Mosquitos, should be a bit (!) easier to pull off since it's much more fun than killing things the normal way - trade, or at least gift items to friends - map different emotes (like "Thanks", "Sorry", etc.) to the D-Pad in the menu - the "point" emote could create a visible "point" for other players, right now noone knows where you're pointing at - rotation during character creation would be nice And one last thing: PvP is great the way it is, don't let people tell you that it needs some drastic changes. The ONLY thing I would wish for is bigger maps and more emphasis on vehicles, the Moon Map (First Light) is perfect but the others are a bit too small. I want to drive through lush forest on Venus and big volcanos on Mars :) All in all this game is freaking awesome and I can't wait for release, great job Bungie!

  • Agree with everythin but trading. I strongly feel that should be left out and that teamates should spawn in like they did at 2013 e3. Also different variations to weaoon designs x j but you got most of the issues i feel strongly about.

  • I agree except no trading or gifting and the pvp maps are perfect. Nothing bigger, beta had the best map size I've seen in any PvP.

  • I agree with some of what you are saying. I like the idea of random under/over spawning and random spawn points. I didn't play as much as you but I did begin to notice the spawn locations in explore mode. An add on to that would be spawns that patrol between spawn points so you could get ambushed while clearing a location. I am sure that Bungie can change the timer on respawning and public events. It would be cool if they tried a weekly calender of certain days with more spawns.

  • I completely agree. Especially concerning the PvP. I think it was perfect and all classe are nicely balanced.

  • I feel like in PvP big vehicles like the Interceptor seem a little too strong. Mainly because it´s really hard to destroy them without a hijack or a insert grenade option like in Halo for example. The turrets on the moon map also seem a little too strong even though I am not entirely sure on that point. Someone else also mentioned assassinations, which I would also find cool at least in multiplayer.

      What about the ability to sell items? I pay 250 for a weapon engram and get something I already have 8 of and only get like 7 glimmer back? I really didn't like this. Is it just me?

      Aside from trading, I agree with everything you just mentioned. I would rather work for my gear than receive it for free. And I would rather help a friend work for his than give him something for free.

          • All in all I think you have some great ideas here and I would back them 100% except for the pvp I think that smaller maps such as Venus are better for this game that's just my personal opinions and I also think supers should be harder to achieve like more of an end game blow out mechanic

          • Ok guys you convinced me, it's good that there is no trading so scratch that :) I've thought about it a bit more so here's a few more points up for debate: - Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifle could use a slight improvement to make them better in PvP - being able to manually toggle the flashlight (ghostlight?) on and off - small audio feedback once grenade and melee are ready - using the Dualshocks touchpad in the menus would be cool (as well as using the speakers for your Ghost's voice) - being able to purchase items and weapons at the tower through the Smartphone app (e. g. equipping your guardian at work and everything's ready once you get home) - Loading times could be shorter, it should be a high priority to reduce those (as there are a lot between gameplay sections) - tied to the previous point, we should be able to exit directly to the tower from everywhere (through the Ghost menu) to avoid all the loading in between - map selection "voting" after a PvP match - after a crucible the rewards should be based solely on your performance (I got a legendary lvl 20 hand cannon for 2nd place yesterday :D) - a NPC (barber?) at the tower where we can change our appearance (also more options and beards/mustaches would be appreciated) - maybe adjustable FOV? Even though I'm sure Bungie has a reason for making it so narrow I think that was all, would be great to know whether some of this stuff is actually being considered by the team. They created an amazing game (that'll probably be a 10/10 already) but some things definately could use some improvement.

            • Agree with everything except the pvp and trading. I find vehicles to be drastically overpowered when you consider their firepower/armour/agility they're overall far too overpowered on all 3 fronts to feel balanced, especially if you are going up against one with a standard primary weapon. I was never a fan of halo's multiplayer but that's just my personal taste, but it's still solid pvp apart from the vehicles.

              • Perfect except trading. I've seen many posts on that, and I've been convinced against it. Destiny is about creating your own legend, not about a friend giving you max loot because they spent the time to find it and you're just lazy. (Not saying you specifically are lazy, 60 hours on a beta is crazy, but if I see somebody with a legendary weapon I want to know that THEY got it)

                • I agree 100%, Destiny felt really sterile and underwhelming. I was bored after a couple hours, and started keeping notes as to why: * I was running through the same areas over and over, running into the SAME groups of mobs over and over and over. Really predictable and got boring really fast. * Lack of loot. Even trash loot is fun to pickup. Finding loot chests was fun, but WAY too few and far between. * Lack of a map. Really? I can summon a speeder bike out of thin air, but they don't have TomToms or Garmins in the future? * Peter Dinkler's voice. Not a fan and wish they had more options other than to simply try and cash in on his voice. * Most of the mobs and weapons look EXACTLY the same. I didn't feel like I was making any progression towards anything at all, just doing the same thing over and over. * Class I chose didn't seem to have much effect on what I was doing at all, besides the super-skills. Weapon choice seemed to make no difference regardless of what Class I chose. There were other little issues but the main ones seem to be covered by multiple people and myself already. While I appreciate Bungie opening up the Beta to everyone, I personally cancelled my pre-order because there just didn't seem to be a lot to DO other than shoot, wander to the next objective, and shoot ... mostly without any real reward. I am hoping that Bungie held back or is still working on releasing content that will plug up the holes and add more .... well ... fun to the game, as it is now, it's just not all that fun FOR ME. I am sure other people have a differing opinion and that's cool, glad you are having fun. I think I just expected more. A LOT more.

                • I agree they should adapt something like STALKER did with A-Life. Roving/random AI events. One day you go there..bam fallen. Then you see a fight..and maybe the Hive win..and now it is hive controlled. .

                  I agree with mostly everything you said aside from trading. At the very most, the only trading/in-game market that should be available should be to buy/trade resource items like spinmetal or weapon parts for glimmer; things that can be used to upgrade or build things for yourself, but definitely not fully made gear and weapons.. Otherwise it would completely destroy the entire grinding for loot and long-term replayability of the game aside from PvP. Addition: And my idea about trading/buying consumables may not even be neccissary since there is already a npc that exchanges these resources for other(yet to be revealed) items/upgrades. So the entire trading/buying should not be added, or at the most it should be for consumables or raw resources only, and needs to have set values (glimmer=item) that are mandatory to be able to trade the said item(s) to prevent irl purchases or free handouts to lazy players.
