Sad! Where is split screen co-op?

Very upset with the lack of split screen co-op. My wife and I as well as my kids and I have spent countless hours of game play together on the couch. Bungie is known for the best Split screen co-op and was a deciding factor in purchasing the XBOX One as well as the Ghost edition. I paid in full one year ago for the game then upgraded to the Ghost edition. I now feel cheated and sad that my favorite game developers with a budget of 500 Million could abandon such a key reason so many have come to enjoy your game's. There's a broad spectrum of players in the world and at a minimum you should expand on the past not disregard what makes you succeed. Sincerely hope that you can find it in your hearts to provide this content. Thank you for everything Father Husband and co-op ally Ryno Ok it's been a year but maybe there is a solution on its way. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/10/02/halo-5-and-destiny-will-get-split-screen-through-a-magical-new-device/ This is not only for players it also can be a great tool for twitch streamers and gamer meet-ups I would love to see this come to fruition! Help spread the word. I'm on twitter if you are on the train. @Ryno_666

I have a feeling that it will never happen no matter what. 1st of all there's not enough supporters, and 2nd they probably don't want to. It's so sad seeing all the great games dropping split screen. I believe it's laziness.

  • Maybe we'll see it in Destiny 2, that would be great. I'll support this, split screen was, and will always be really fun to play with friends/family, and imagine this in a game like Destiny..

    • Split screen will change peoples views on this game for the better as many would love to play with friends in the same room bungie hear your fans and the community that you have created and implement this into the game

    • Me and my wife would love split screen. We play halo mcc and borderlands 2 on 360 together.

    • Sadly, this can't happen till destiny 2. I'd love to see split screen, but its unrealistic to expect it to happen in destiny 1.

    • I also would like to see split screen co-op come to Destiny. I prefer sharing the couch with family, and friends while playing games like Halo, Boarderlands, Worms, and Minecraft. That's what keeps me coming back to said games. I ended up purchasing all of the Boarderlands 2 DLC, as my friends and family desired to continue our journey together. That's the same reason I will be purchasing Boarderlands: The Pre-sequel, and Halo: Master Chief Collection. I currently don't plan on getting the Destiny season pass due to the lack of local split screen co-op. I also do not plan on getting the next Destiny installment unless it includes split screen co-op.

      • remember the night the game can out, Bungie posted on the Destiny Facebook wall, asking if they should add split screen. It seems they thought about doing it

          • Bungie doesn't care about its community. They only case about statistics like the money they're making and how many play their game. Instead of fixing server disconnects they're having players teach other players how to fix the problem so they don't have to and then they're recording and displaying total hours logged by players. They don't care what's wrong with their game or about US that's the bottom line.

              • The only way to change minds in any business is to deny them income, through not buying or supporting their product/s in large numbers. We all know this is not going to happen so the sad fact is you'll just have to accept if you want to play. I don't like split screen myself but I can see the point of some like yourself wanting it incorporated.

                  • Hate to break it to you, but it won't happen. Wether you want to accept it or not, Split-Screen is becoming a thing of the past. It's just not worth the time and money that is required for game developers to add it. "But it's only split-screen that's not hard at all." True, I'm not a game developer but my guess is it requires a lot more than you'd think to add something like that. And I'm all for petitions but 900 people won't change anything, especially since the game is done and made. I loved split screen as a kid, we played halo non-stop and my friends would come over and play as well, but in today's world the majority of households has almost one system to a child, or adult. So the number of people that would be the outliers won't be enough to make it happen.

                    • It's funny when all the commercials centered around the Xbox and PlayStation depict a couch co-op environment. Yet the titles that do such are nonexistent.

                      • I concur. It's incredibly sad that I cannot bring my friends together and sit on the couch, play Destiny and have a good laugh like we did back in the old days with Halo: Combat evolved. Playing together online is nice and all, but nothing beats getting together and playing in the same room.

"We're actually not supporting split-screen in Destiny," Bungie community manager Eric Osborne told GameSpot during E3 this week. "We love split-screen. Obviously we have a legacy of supporting it. We know a lot of players love it. We love it. But we really wanted to untether guardians. Even if you're in a fireteam, you can go wherever you want. That level of freedom was really important for us. We know some players really like split-screen. Ultimately, you can't build a game to suit every single player out there." It's not a good excuse. Guardians would in fact not be tethered to each other, especially if we are only talking about online split screen co-op in multiplayer matchmaking!
