His Grand father says that he was autistic. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think it's a a good idea to let scouts have access to weapons.
What do you think of the article?
Inside a tent, officers found a 12-year-old gunshot victim with a handgun nearby.
This also happened around 7AM so the guns were still locked up, this child was getting into shit he knew he shouldn't be getting into. Not sure how he was able to get a gun that was locked away and make it back to his tent though.

As a former scout myself this saddens me. It's dangerous and reckless to allow people of that age to have firearms unsupervised. Now, i have no problem with scouts, or anyone responsibly engaging in shooting sports like skeet shooting and target shooting, it belongs at the range under the strict supervision of a professional. It's clear there was a HUGE lapse in supervision and safety protocols because in the scouts, any time a dangerous activity or item (knives, axes etc.) is involved, scouts have to go through very strict safety training. So as far as firearms go, i have no problem with scouts using them, so long as it's at a proper firing range with good supervision

Edited by DarkestSeptagon: 6/30/2014 10:37:47 PMI used to be a Boy Scout and I can say that they take a LOT of precautions with the kids, obviously the kid should not have even been near a weapon if he was autistic. I think it's fine to let them shoot rifles and shotguns under adult supervision.

Well um... Considering I just had a friend do something similar just a couple short days ago. Its tragic and I can only imagine what that family is going through.
