So, I Have an Idea For a Video Game

*ACHTUNG! LONG POST AHEAD!* To those of you who are familiar with the Science Fiction works of the late Iain Banks may find some similarities with my idea and his Culture novels, in particular Use of Weapons (as pictured above) and Matter, that's because I'm lazy, have a penchant for creative kleptomania, and I'm a big fan of his work. Now that that's out of the way, let's discuss the game itself. The game will be set on a Pre-Industrial world that has been selected as a candidate for technological/cultural uplift by a Culture-like civilization (i.e a Post-Scarcity, lives on ships or some other space-worthy habitat, highly advanced AI(about as smart or smarter than your average organic), contains a variety of different species, big on things like freedom and peace, not so big on the Prime Directive from Star Trek). While most civilizations are fairly liberal for the most part, such as having some property rights for women, freedom of religion (mostly), the sort of thing one might find in pre-Dark Ages Europe under the Roman Empire or the Greek city-states, there is one small problem; another civilization; or group of civilizations, as would be more likely, has taken to conquering the rest of the world and unfortunately it is far more medieval in it's take on social and foreign policy; that is they don't think much of religious freedom (gruesome executions for the non-believers) or of gender, racial or, sexual equality. Now you, the player take the role of a member of a group special operatives employed by the space-faring civilization to set things (in their eyes) right. This special group you are a part of takeon the roles of Achilles-esque characters, exceptional warriors who can easily and quickly rise in the ranks of the militaries they are assigned to, so that they may become influential member's of a general's/monarch's retinue and thereby use their influence to guide matters to a point where the more liberal civilizations retain their power and independence while desroying the power of the less than liberal civilization/civilizations. You would; through the technological capabilities of the space-faring civilization, be given powers like superior strength, reflexes, night-vision and, other similar abilities, all relatives to the natives. Not enough to incur suspicion of witchcraft (they're liberal, but not that liberal), but enough to be hailed as a gift from the gods. Now this is where it gets fun: You start the game waking up as a prisoner belonging to a neutral faction (bandits or something) and you have total amnesia. You have no idea of what you are, where you're from or what your purpose is. For all intents and purposes, you might as well be native to this world. Once you break free you go on an adventure trying to discover your past, and once you do, you may decide for yourself whether you think that what the space-faring civilization is doing is right or wrong and you may return to your mission and fight for the technological/cultural uplift and eventually return to your civilization of origin (the space-faring one) or you may join the less tolerant faction and provided you succeed against your ex-peers, live out your days in hedonism and debauchery as a baron or something. Thoughts?
