Graphics =$
Honestly I'm starting to really get bugged my the graphics. Like I've already pre-ordered the game. But after watching gameplay, I realized that Destiny's graphics rnt the greatest =\ anyone else thinking that?

Thought the alpha (THE ALPHA!!!!) Was already beautiful and they've already said the graphics will have been bumped up for the beta and then some for the release.

They aren't the greatest, and that's cause the game was also made for last gen. They didn't go 100% on next hen graphics because the older consoles needed to run the game. It still looks great though.

The graphics are damn good. Especially the skyboxes.

Graphics are good.see the landscape skyboxes are amazing.only thing nay downgraded a few things is that they made game for old and new gen consoles.

Remember halo? it didn't look great, there wasn't anything really new but everything about it was better then outher fps out at the time, bungie has been great at makeing things work better then outer developers. I think destiny will be the same way [spoiler]I'm no fanboy just how I saw the 1st halo [/spoiler]

They're still better then last gen! Quit complaining, not every game can push the boundary, particularly when the focus is gameplay

I saw some dragonflies whizz past my face during a fire fight. It startled me but I was instantly amazed at the level of detail they put in this game. And overall the game LOOKED great. :-)

I do think it's important for a game to look good. I don't mean graphical fidelity. I'd be impressed if say, in Destiny I could get on all fours and look at my tiny reflection in a single drop of dew on a blade of grass, but it isn't necessary to my enjoyment. A game needs to look good in, rather paradoxically, a way that's both utilitarian and aesthetically pleasing/varied. I want to be able to clearly tell what's what, but I want varied environments with character, character designs that are on average, with occasional exceptions (because variety!) eye-catching without being too noisy/complicated/excessive. All the graphical realism in the world isn't going to engage me if I'm going through a thousand miles of brown maintenance tunnels. As it stands, on a visual level, Destiny looks eye catching, engaging and interesting. And graphically? Even it's Alpha looked fantastic to me!

You have to keep in mind that the world you are playing in is not a pure singleplayer experience and in a such a game which is online only, the consoles already have enough to work in the background than just showing nice visuals. On a PC it could look better though if Bungie ever decides to release such a version (cauz the hardware here isn't limited).

1 ReplyWhile beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I'm not sure what is specifically bothering you about the graphics. Perhaps the game isn't pushing as many polygons as other games, but the way they are used, along with all of the post processing effects and filters that Bungie has applied not to mention the HDR lighting, the game looks absolutely stunning to me. I can't wait for the Xbox One beta! Hopefully, you'll see something to change your mind. Cheers!

1 ReplyGraphics don't make or break a game. Its solid gameplay mechanics, a rich immersive lore/story and a special sauce that only creative minds can imbue into any given creation. Especially games or interactive art.

Silly question - are you clicking the cog and watching it in 1080p? Or are you watching it "standard" at 420p? Without switching it, I can see the complaint. That said, when I suffer the stuttering (my work Internet is atrocious), it's a million times more beautiful - you can see the detail.

Gameplay is far more important than Graphics. I'm playing Donkey Kong 64 right now while I'm waiting for the beta because after playing the Alpha it made me realize how bad most modern games are. N64 graphics are pretty terrible by todays standards but you completely forget that once you start playing.

Anybody who is worried about the graphics need only watch a time lapse video of the skyboxes..blew my mind!!
