I'm going to tell you how Destiny ends.

Not all that many people are thinking about how the plot of the first game is going to end. It is a big question as to... how is Bungie going to end this game, so that we can move into the second? Bungie has said they want us to be with our characters over 10 years, right? How are we going to do that for gameplay? Are they going to keep us max level at the beginning of Destiny #2? Or are they going to pull a "The Witcher" where our character is just magically deleveled next game and we have to progress all over again? So I'd like to present a thought. I note first that there is zero evidence for it, and it is only a possibility I came up with in my head. Proceed with that in mind. Guardians are few, and they obtain their power from the Traveler. What if that power isn't inherent? As if, what if it is more like 'borrowed?' This Space Magic, we don't actually know how it works. Does it require a constant stream of power from the Traveler? Or is it something instilled in us? To my knowledge, we don't yet know how it works. So. This leads to my point... what is our Space Magic comes in waves? There are moments of our lives where we are full of the Travelers 'light.' Those people that fill up are Guardians. Their power ebbs and flows. In the case of Destiny, leveling up (not even just overall levels- but powering up your Space Magic abilities too!) is your power growing. The City knows this is your time, and seeks to use your power before it recedes again. So the story of Destiny is a race. It's a race against the enemy races, a race against the Darkness returning... and a race against your own inability to help out humanity once your power runs out. As the story of Destiny ends, you are nearing your most powerful state. And as the next game begins... your power has already ebbed, and you must work to build your talents yet again. I'm thinking something akin to Revan (Star Wars) that was severed from the Force and regained his power. This is interesting to me- how this transition is going to take place. It's just as possible that Bungie will just say your Guardian keeps his power, or your Guardian is reincarnated somehow after dying but has to start over from that severing from his power. There are a myriad of possibilities. But I figure the one I brought up covers all four games, rather than needing a new excuse to reset a character every game. Again, not saying this is any more likely than any other possibility. But I like to think about the story- since that's what interests me here. I get really invested into stories. So please. Share your thoughts on this, and on other ways to transition if you have them. It'd be cool to see some brainstorming! Cheers!
