I know Bungie has stated they won't have public chat in the game, since they don't want those bad apples ruining other players experience.
But me personally.. I wish there was a toggle option for it. I would like to make small chat with random people in the Tower, since many features are meant for the game to be social.. or have communication among the other Fireteams at a Public event.
I'm sure there will come one day when a super huge boss will be at a public event and many people won't know how to take it down.. except for that one Fireteam that has seen it in action before and only they can tell you, but you can't talk to them.
So what do you think on this matter?

I gotta be honest, if there was public chat, I'd have to keep it toggled off. It'd be like a school cafeteria, and I hate the sound of cafeterias....
-
Wait what? They want a fully immersive team driven game But they closed off chat? LMAO
-
Because it's SOOO difficult to invite someone to a party or fireteam to talk. After years of mmo's I can safely say people in public chat have nothing useful or interesting to say.
-
Eh, if they want to implement a trade system they'll have to add some form of chat so both parties can discuss what to trade for what...

Yes, a text chat would be a big help in some instances. Like the tower. I would like it. For players that abuse it, a mute, or blacklist. You will never hear from them again.

I can go without hearing screaming children. I'm all for the no public chat... Keeps things private, doesn't ruin the immersion

Edited by SchaengCologne: 5/9/2014 6:23:17 AMPerception foreign language competence. For my opinion a public text-chat with toggle function is better. My english isn't good and it is more easy to read and write a foreign language as to spoke and hear it. So with an Public Chat function i can participate the "mmo" part. To enjoy a game for a longtime i want to have People to Play and "talk" with. And i'm not alone with that bad english knowledge. Some Friends of mine and many colleagues thinking about that like me. But on the other Hand some declaim on the "bad apples" in chat, so the solution is a toggle function. They can choose for each Country at least one Server or a Chat toggle function :D

I was talking about this the other day. I'd love to see something like when a public event takes place, it creates a 'halo' type bubble where those taking place in the event could communicate either freely or by some kind of toggle a la DayZ

Halo reach had the option to toggle mute all but friends. Why not just keep that. At least I think it was reach. It was reach or 4. Sorry.

Edited by DanBoom65: 5/1/2014 9:42:49 PMI don't want constant talking on voice chat. It will be interesting to see what Bungie comes up with.

I like no chat in Dark Souls, this sounds great

The tower should have proximity voice chat like dayZ. Even in public events too. The world will feel void and lifeless if everyone is a mute. There should be a mute button if someone is bothering you....mute them

I think the system's fine as is. Want to talk to someone else? Add them to your party. If they accept, you're good to go!

Don't be shy guys, leave your thoughts!

Not have someone else tell you how to do it. How would you be able to make any sense out of a conversation with 10 different people shouting at the same time. This is exactly what Bungie is trying NOT to do :-)
