Rumors have swirled, and Tellem and Levin say they are meeting with people to put together the right team, but no director, showrunner, or writer has been officially attached. Many are still hoping that District 9's Neill Blomkamp will board to project to direct the pilot. Blomkamp was of course set to helm the proposed Halo feature film that Peter Jackson was to produce, before financing on the film fell through and they moved on to D9. In early April, it was revealed that Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions is teaming with Microsoft to produce a "Halo digital feature" in a collaboration with 343 and Xbox Entertainment. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Battlestar Galactica, Heroes) is slated to direct the project, which, as we learned at the Xbox event, is set to go into production shortly in Ireland and Iceland and does not focus on Master Chief. We're not entirely certain exactly what is meant by "digital feature." Initially, when we asked Tellem if this meant a webseries such as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, she replied in the affirmative, though with the caveat that it has a far larger budget.
