Because we have a pair of political parties that is actively trying to sabotage people, leading to them growing up to be stupid sheep for them to easily sway and control with enough advertisements, because them staying in power is dependent catering to Big Biz and special interest groups and on the uneducated and uninformed voting against their own interests. The Death of Democracy wasn't with thunderous applause. It happened years ago and we never noticed the wealthy elite crowning themselves kings.
