So guy's I am doing a project that requires me to review a fairly recent game and to upload it somewhere, while it's not finished I want to see what feedback you guys have so far so if you can help that would be fantastic. (Also enjoy the linked music)
Killer Instinct, a game when revealed stirred excitement in many gamer's, the game that also caused controversy and disappointment 30 seconds later when it was discovered the game was not remade by Rare but instead by Double Helix. Back in the 1990's Killer Instinct was released on Nintendo's SNES and for a reason nobody can tell you became a classic, the game mixed in Human and Alien fighters into the roster and using a large library of move sets and combo's to win a tournament set up by Ultratech the games antagonist. Fast forward 20 year's and 1 sequel later Killer Instinct has been remade exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox one, made by not Rare the original creator of the franchise but Double Helix known by for the game Enter the Matrix. However despite the Studio's rocky history and consumer concerns Double Helix has created one of best fighting games in the Genre and an incredible reboot for a beloved franchise, which both allows easy access for new players and an advanced under layer of moves and combo's for those dedicated fighting fans. The game was released as a Free to Play title allowing players to use any and all modes for free but having only access to one character which at launch was Jago. Upon hearing this news many assumed Jago would be the weakest character in the very....limited roster (more on that in a minute), in order to make players buy more characters via in game purchase. Many gamers where surprised to find not only was Jago one of the better characters in the roster but also Double Helix was switching the character available every few weeks to allow players to test other characters before they decided to purchase. You see the way players can buy new characters can be done in a few different ways; 1. Download just 1 character at a time so you can pick your favourite and not worry about spending money on the others. 2. Then there is the Combo Pack which unlocks all 6 of the games characters and 2 post launch characters, 3. You can buy the Ultra edition which includes the Combo Pack, Additional alternate costumes, accessory pack and a port of the original Killer Instinct. This leads to a black mark against the title which is the character roster of 6 compared to more recent fighting games with around at least a dozen fighters, Double Helix has however announced a second wave of another 8 characters to be released sometime in 2014. All players had 4 sets of customizable gear and 6 colour variations available to them while 3 current fighters give you the option as playing the original model from 1994. These accessories can be unlocked by earning in game points and completing certain conditions set by the game, these accessories range from costumes, player card customization, Concept art and even the original announcer voice actor and music for those looking for a Nostalgia trip. The player modes released are also fairly limited to Survival, Co-Op, XBL multiplayer (Ranked/Exhibition),Practice and Dojo with a story mode for each character being added sometime in 2014. While in the original Killer instinct you fight against each player character once and then you win Survival mode, this time it's more along the lines of a Endurance mode in which you fight until you either quit or get your sorry backside kicked. The Dojo has the most advanced and fleshed out tutorial out of any fighting game, this mode teaches you all the different combo's and moves a character can use, while you use these moves as Jago all the button presses are exactly the same across all characters. While you don't need to use the Dojo but instead jump into any Survival/multiplayer game and spam your way to a win and still access some of the special moves, you will need to visit the Dojo to be a competitor in the Ranked multiplayer playlist. The Dojo is filled with around 50 tutorial's with around 4-5 lessons in each one and it's no cake walk, I got to around number 10 and could not continue but thankfully you can skip a lesson or two but if you are a completionist then you are in for a hard time. Practice mode as the name suggests allows the players to pick a character of choice and any AI character they wish (Or randomize) to practice and master that characters move set, you can press start to access the characters move list, this list is also available in Survival mode. For online multiplayer you have 2 options, Exhibition or Ranked, Exhibition is the more social side of multiplayer where any and all skill levels can be found which by default looks for Rank 1 to Rank 40 players, this can be changed before starting your search. The Rank playlist is the more hardcore mode in which you fight to the death for blood and prestige. As you win you gain experience to the next level and when you are starting a match that will level you if you win the game will put a notice next to your name for both players to see that you are fighting for something. As you lose you also lose your rank and as it does for winning you also get a label signalling this player will rank down if they lose, this causes the match to get incredibly tight when both players have this label because you don't want to be the one who allows the other to go back up the standings.
Still got a couple of things to add such as a break down of graphics/sound/gameplay and scores but this is it so far, thoughts?

 • You should really go more in depth on how each mechanic works in practice, or does not work. Right now it feels like a giant overview of the entire game, and not an actual critique. You can keep that same format, but voice any compliments on how they work, or don't work.
