Where do you think bungie got the alien species ides?
Fallen - elites (halo)
Hive - Tyranids (warhammer 40k)
Vex - don't know
Cabal - Brutes (halo)
that's just what I think but post some of your suggestions

The Fallen and Hive resemble Human anatomy pretty closely (Bio-engineering on the arms, since the lower caste of the fallen only have two arms, yet they have armor similar to the Guardians). I don't know about the Cabal, though... They got me on that one.

1 ReplyNot sure about the Fallen. I'd hesitate to say they were inspired by the Sangheili because they are a pale shadow, comparatively speaking. I would say the Hive came from their original fantasy concept of an undead army, which they then adapted to a Sci-Fi environment. For the Cabal, I cooked up a [url=http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XXX-AP9eMvU/Uh5Mje7vB-I/AAAAAAAAAJU/cU_uJlGdSyg/s1600/cabalorigin.jpg]visual aid[/url] a while back to illustrate my theory. The Fallen are pirates, while the Elites were a Sparta-esque society of honorable warriors. The Cabal are a very organized and professional (for lack of a better word) military, while the Brutes were of a clan-based society.
