Halo 2 A should be an "Extended Edition" Discuss.

The trouble with Halo 2 is that at it's core it was an unfinished game. The developers have stated on numerous occasions that they ran out time working on the campaign in order to push it for the release date. I would like to see Halo 2 as it was meant to be. Those scenes that hit the cutting room floor? Bring a couple of them back in HD. It's a big ask, but is it entirely unreasonable? [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD9MZMtlOIs]This is what I mean.[/url] Here Joeseph Staten says that "there's just a ton of really great action ... which we ultimately decided was really hard to animate given the time we had" I also find at 4:38 shows an interesting history lesson of the Covenant and the Great Journey. This video shows what happened to one of the pelicans and it's troops from the missions intro scene. It shows why you suddenly come across an unexplained crashed pelican in the final iteration. I'll admit that there are scenes that can't work in the finished story, because they chose a different direction for the plot. But saying that, there is a a lot of scenes that should have been in the finished product and have incredible potential. Halo 2 Anniversary should be a HD remake, but it should also be a directors cut- an extended edition. As for the Multiplayer I'd kill for a Halo 2 with the same engine and physics, (with all it's quirks) but with remodelled graphics. A problem in this regard however, is that in Halo: CEA I often found graphical glitches and mistakes that weren't in the original. (floating objects and incorrect hitboxes for example)- lets make it smoother this time around!

    I have to admit, some of the cut levels sounded pretty fun. The one between Cairo Station and Outskirts where you'd run round the Assault Carrier to destroy it instead of a cutscene. Also, there was going to be one where you'd run round the depths of Installation 05 (After assassinating Regret) where the Gravemind would be smashing his tentacles down all around you and stuff... Plus, the warthog designs looked amazing! When I say add the levels in, I just mean as bonus things that aren't canon but cool to play.

    • Seeing as 343I has touched on elements and cut content bungie "wanted" to expand on, i think they could easily pull this off. My only concern would be the placement in canon itself. We accepted the Ages of the covenant as canon despite them not making it into the game and only later being brought up (contact harvest). So could the other elements work as well? Lets say instead of Bombing the Carrier outright he infiltrated the inside and later escaped by bombing it. would that be accepted? Seeing as we don't have a novel detailing what went on i see no initial problem if things were to be tinkered with. The game does a lot of jumping around with dates;so for missions to take place in-between isn't too much for me. Like someone else said; i think it would have been better for bungie to fully release halo 2 than to make reach.

    • Instead of that disaster known as Reach I wish Bungie remade Halo 2 in the way they wanted to. If there is a Halo 2A I do hope 343 is smart enough to have it remade not in just graphics, but with the content that was supposed to be in it.

    • I do agree. However look at the game it self a towering titan on the xbox live system and still leaves its' mark on all those who have played it. Thus even thou the game was rushed for release, the developers made their statment it is not finished by our standard, but in the end we have made a colossus to the world of what we can do. That is what made it, and will continue to make sure a profound turn in future designing generations to achieve such a game as Halo2.

    • As cool as that would be, without the original programmers and animators helping to complete their initial vision, it really isn't that valuable of an addition.

      • I would want the game to remain nearly the same. If anything maybe get some terminal videos that would explore some of the things that didn't make it into Halo 2. Ultimately I would want a "legendary ending" to the terminal. Collect all terminal videos and unlock a special video hinting at Halo's future. Maybe a nod to Halo 3 but not one that would get people thinking we're going to get a Halo 3 remake.
