A Destiny Pro Series?
So I and a few friends are working to develop a Destiny Pro Series of sorts. Basically its a website similar to MLG (major league gaming) for Destiny competitive play. The biggest difference is that it is highly structured unlike MLG. It will have a 6 month PRO season (72 games) and a 6 month AM season 72 games. Teams will be divided up by physical location with 5-10 teams per division with 10 divisons. at teh end of the season the teams that won their divison go to the playoffs and such. There is alot more that goes into it but that is the quick run down. the question is do you think people would want to play in something like this and woudl you find it enjoyable to watch? eSports is becomign very popular but is lacking in rules and structure. We are hoping to provide that and set a new standard in competitive gaming. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

6 RepliesIf Destiny is suited for competitive play MLG will gobble it up, thus attracting the majority of players. You're welcome to try though, it would be nice to see a community project get it started.

Wow! thanks scatamir16, those are actually some really good ideas i didnt think about! I am putting everything I have into this project! an yes we will only stream the pro matches and playoffs/championships. we wont start the seasons and all that right away because i wan to test it first and let everyone get used to the site and all that. but yea any other ideas you have please share! and as far as when will the site be up i want to make sure it is running properly and everything is working before we release anything we are hoping by the beta release

You gotta also release this tournament AFTER A MONTH OR TOO THE GAME COMES OUT.. why? these r the reasons 1: People can get used to Destiny and the community so they can make teams and stuff 2: If you do this when bungie releases the game they can rest off from it AND MAYBE put attention to what u r doing 3: You can also take this time to prepare you can also make Faction tournaments and class tournaments... for example Warlock VS Warlock Hunter VS Hunter Titan VS Titan you should make theese individually so the battles arent unfair or anything also PLEASE DONT MAKE THIS A SCAM OR ELSE NO ONE WILL TRUST YOU AGAIN and put all your attention to this.. I had a lot more ideas but suddenly my computer erased all that i wrote and forgot some.. If i remember them or come up with new ones ill let u know (oh and stick the people with this all the time) good luck :)

yea, we are going to try to live stream all pro matches through the site and even live stream the amateur playoffs and championships as well

We are thinking that the tournaments offered will be a buy in similar to MLG. Either with a credit system (where you buy credits use to use as the buy in) or just use real money to buy in and the tournament will offer cash rewards for top 3 teams. then we might do free tournaments and offer merchandise and what not depending on if we have enough community support.

ok that seems pretty cool. it would be awesome if it got popular it sounds like it would be fun at least. will the tournaments cost anything and will there be money or merch prizes?

not 100% sure as of yet but we are hopeful that other already established pro teams like ones from CoD will want to sign up and they will get it for sure. the alternative is that if we get more than enough to register we might do a pro series tournament to see who will be drafted into the pro series. then once the pro league is set with teams they will stay like that until that team resigns from competition. they we will do another tournament to find a replacement team

How will you know or determine who gets to be a pro team or amateur team? like say we sign up as a pro team do we automatically get in to the pro league?

oh there will be plenty of tournaments. we are going to try to have at least 3 tournaments a week and competition ladder similar to gamebattles. This way all competitive players can get into something exciting.

Don't forget periodic tournaments.

i could see it being kinda cool depending on how the competitive play of destiny works outs. I could really see this being even better for games like call of duty

As far as it being like WoW or DOTA, we are going for a CoD feel of competitive play, though I haven't played competitive WoW or DOTA so I can't really say yes or no on that.

Yea, MLG will be hard to deal with for sure mainly because they are already established. But the problem with MLG is they are not structured and its kind of cluttered. With MLG teams can change daily and it can be hard to figure out is going on. I am hoping we can fix that with the added structure and bring a more solid, professional feel to competitive gaming. But you are definitely, it's going to be hard to compete with MLG, but we would rather try and fail then not try at all lol

So I'm guessing that this will be more along the lines of competitive WoW or DOTA, something like that where players will be able to utilize their builds?
