Why do mods not carpet ban constantly?

Latest carpet ban Why mods not do this more often? It's a great way of teaching people not to respond to a obviously against the rules thread! And after getting carpet banned I, for one, learned my lesson. Is it only not done to keep people on this site? Is it because some mods just want havoc on the flud? Note: I do not know what the the thead was about nor who replied. Although I am positive OP didn't bump it 3 pages in a row.

 •
Posted by: Forge Fan92 I learned my lesson from that thread. Noble Legendary to nothing. :( If the mods are going to carpet ban, they should do it consistently, not when they're having a bad day. There have been so many threads like that that didn't have carpet bans.
But, you see, that would take forever, and no mod wants to have to do that. However, a carpet ban now and then? Now you are questioning yourself, "is it worth the risk to make a dumb reply in this obvious spam / troll thread?". It is an effective deterrent. Oh, and if you just got a 3 day, your title will be back pretty soon, although if you are that worried about it then you have bigger problems than being a "lowly member".
