A group of things, a single point that defines all life, whatever you come up with is fine.
Part two;

M - movement R - respiration S - sensitivity G - growth R - reproduction E - excretion N - nutrition Pretty glad I remembered that mnemonic from school. Part two is yes, because death is not included in the determination of whether something is living or not. Although I guess it could be argued that being unable to die means you wouldn't require nutrition or respiration, so maybe not.
