There are several vociferous members on here who kept lambasting me over my criticisms of Nintendo. They were the ones who continuously shouted to the heavens about how once Mario and Zelda got another game off of the ground, that the Wii U would come storming back. They called me an idiot, and how I have no idea what I'm talking about when I said that even Gamers in Japan were getting tired of Nintendo's 20 year-old rehashes...

I say twice, because I also posted a story about how the Wind-waker (or whatever Zelda game) rehash wouldn't lift sales for the Wii U, and I was right. I've said repeatedly that though a new Mario game wouldn't lift sales except for an embarrassingly small amount, it would still be sad to see Nintendo complete it's fall.
We got one step closer to that sadness.
Don't get me wrong. I do not want to see Nintendo fail, but their ego is getting too large. their arrogance to thick to even allow them to see that their refusal to stay competitive is destroying their company.
The truth is that if it weren't for the 3DS, Nintendo would be bankrupt already. Still, even the 3DS cannot keep Nintendo operating in the black, and it's only a matter of time before they fold. They're so far in the red that it's pathetic, and they higher-ups at Nintendo refuse to see it, and that's the really sad thing about this.

tl;dr Oh and Nintendo is doing fine.
-
Since when did nintendo have a big ego and arrogant? They aren't, you just like to hate on Nintendo. They are the nicest out of the 3 to treat their fans. I mean hell they laugh at the memes people make for them.

If there is any console that will stand the test of time, it is the cheapest. Besides they are killing it with their handheld platform.
-
No saving Nintendo eh? I'd say the years and years of profits from every gen, and their handhelds is what is saving them.
-
Yeah, if it wasn't for their handheld sales, they would have already gone bankrupt.
-
Yeah, Nintendo is doing pretty badly right now, however I never lose hope in the company that gave me my all time favorite games that I still enjoy thoroughly today. Besides I'm sure they've got billions of dollars buried from their SNES days that they could dig up if they really need it.
-
I am hoping they pull a sega and make their games available for all types of consoles. Mario and and Zelda on Xbox ? Yes please .
-
It's true the 3DS did save there ass but it would be sad to see them fall but I think the wii U is what killed them they spent a lot of money Making a new console exactly the same as the wii and Making the gamepad they would've made more money if they had just sold the gamepad and released a big update to the wii adding the same things the wii U has that would have most likely saved them

Nintendo fanboys are pretty bad. It's astounding how they say other game are milked while they play the 100th installment of Pokémon.

Japan has never been big 3D Mario territory for one. Two, the Wii U has a relatively small install base so it will sell a small amount of any game out the gate right now. That base will grow over time. Not in one huge chunk. Nintendo has made some missteps with the Wii U. They are definitely lacking in both number of games and variety. What little games they do have are all mostly cutesy platformers. Essentially they have wasted their year head start on the PS4/X1. That being said the Wii U is still a good console with a lot of potential left. It just needs games which will come with time. (I'd give anything for a Golden Sun U series). Nintendo is going to be fine. They can ride their Wii and handheld moneys for a long while yet. I'd say right now there's a better chance of the Xbox brand disappearing with their new CEO coming in (and I don't think that's very likely either).
-
It's not looking good for the Wii U, I'll give you that. Wii U sales to date are about 3.9 million. Now stack that up against MS and Sony, who both had Day One sales over a million. That's harsh, especially when you consider the PR disaster that the Xbox One's reveal was.
-
Nintendo needs a new game series.
-
Wii U is trashed, 3DS makes the Vita and Shield look like a germ next to the 3DS. So Nintendo's doing OK
-
I think it will sell better when new Smash Bros and other big things are coming next year.
-
you DO realize that's only PHYSICAL copies being sold right? Nintendo hasn't posted the eShop sales at all for anything as of yet, hell, I bought my copy from the eShop as well so my purchase won't count either!
-
I hope they make a new console and return to traditional controllers.

I think the Wii U's biggest issue is it released so early with a lack of big selling launch titles. No Smash Bros. no Zelda(till now but remakes don't count and won't help console sales), and Mario till just recently. I see potential in the Wii U, however it has few games that interest me at the moment. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much big title releases will help Wii U at this point. I fear it may be too late in the game(no pun intended) for a recovery.
-
Oh well. I still like them.
-
The new Super Smash Brothers and Bayonetta 2, which is a Wii U Exclusive so there's some betting on that taking place most likely, will be two things they might be counting on a tad. Honestly though I agree, they can't bet on Mario and Zelda to continue to sell year after year. It's embarrassing and pathetic how much they're still counting on them to ride the wave of success.
I also posted a story about how the Wind-waker (or whatever Zelda game) rehash wouldn't lift sales for the Wii U, and I was right.
Didn't the Wii U sales go up 600% when WWHD released?

well people in japan aren't buying wii u's is because they prefer handhelds which is why it's between 3DS and PS Vita
