"Drink that up. Happy Birthday, ya little shit." If you're in such a hurry that you really must skip to the goodies, head to the tl;DR at the bottom. For those who are ready to get their faces melted, here we go. So, in this latest edition of the podcast, Bungie would like us to think this is just going to be some "mellow show", that we're in a "lull" of reveals and goodies. They'd like us to think that all they've only got between us and an interim of relative placidity are a couple of interesting interviews and two hardworking Bungie employees. What they're not telling you is that they're lying about the lull in reveals, about the chill show- about EVERYTHING. This is going to blow your mind. Consider the fuse primed... Wednesday, November 27th If you thought that all these other threads (ka-fwam, sha-boom) were chockfull of glimpses into the approaching universe of Destiny and secret Bungie easter eggs... you were only mostly right. Let's check out that dynamite. So, You Think You Can Dance?
EO: Why are our seats hot? JS: Well, mine's not. Mine's freezing. DD: You got that metal chair. JS: Again?
This interesting glimmer can be heard just before the jump, Marty lays some groovy vibrations on our eardrums and we begin the interview portion of the Novembercast. Fast-forward through the immaculate discussion about 46 minutes and here we begin our journey into the far reaches of the easter egg laden Septagonic Rift. Just as we approach the 51 minute mark, Marty blasts through the concluding conversation with a roaring 1 minute lope of auditory beatitude which is ominously followed by roughly 7.5 minutes of silence. Then, suddenly at 59:38 we can hear it, nestled away like a precious fossil turned to gemstone by the trickling efflux of time.
EO: That's like the chair from Casino Royale. At the end? That's memorabilia right there. JS: Yep, no that's exactly how I feel like right now. Yeah, I just sit there. EO: That's the podcast for John, he's just taking it in the nuts the whole time. JS: Yep. EO: But you win in the end, John. JS: I don't know if that's a win. EO: And you're classy. JS: I don't think that's a win- far from classy.
Boom. There it is, folks. Plain as day! If you were a non-believer before, it's pretty damn hard to ignore the light any longer. It looks like, you guessed it, Bungie is working on the next iteration of Bond films. We all know Daniel Craig is only signed on for 2 more movies with MGM. After which a new Bond will have to be plucked from a select pool of candidates... Who other to fill this role but Bungie?! That's what the user research and surveying is about, that's what all the linguistics specialists have been called in for. We all know Bungie developed Destiny while they were still finishing up Halo, a small team but still, it was in development. That must be why Bungie is trying so hard to dodge these topics, it must be what all this subdued hype is over; Bungie is going to start filming the next series of Bond films! tl;DR
I really hope everyone took one look at that wall of text and headed straight here. There's nothing to speculate on this go around. While Jennifer Ash and Tom Slattery gave us some great insights and interesting details into how Tru7h and carnage (user research and localization, introspectively) are shaping the trail we'll be blazing in 2014, the only other Bungie speciale came in the form of some great comic moments.
