The other night I went on a date to a really fancy restaurant, the sort of place I can only afford to go to once a year, if I'm lucky. I even rented a suit just for the occasion. I was going there with the love of my life, and I was sure that it was going to be an amazing evening. I presented her with a bouquet of roses before we left (she was very pleased), and I had high hopes.
I have to give credit to the employees of the restaurant. They didn't so much as bat an eyelid when I showed up to claim my reservation for a table of two. The waiter very professionally seated my date and I near the center of the restaurant (he even pulled out a chair for her!). I was a little nervous about us being in the middle, but I decided to put it out of mind and have a nice night. When the waiter returned I smoothly ordered drinks for both of us, showing off my knowledge of fine wines (ladies love connoisseurs), and ordered meals that perfectly complimented the wine and her tastes. I spared no expense on getting a fantastic dinner.
Throughout the meal, the staff treated us perfectly normally and professionally, which I was very thankful for. The other diners, however, kept shooting my date and I weird glances. I just did my best to ignore them and hoped that my date didn't notice. Overall, though, things were going very well. The food was amazing, my date was beautiful, and we were having an engaging conversation about our many shared interests.
But then it all came crashing down. Even if the other diners gave us the occasional weird look, they at least had the decency to end it at that. But kids don't have manners. Just as we were about to order dessert, some kid at another table shouted to his parents, "Why is that guy talking to a picture?"
Night. Ruined. All I wanted was a nice evening with my loved one, and that stupid kid just had to go and make it weird. I lost my temper at that point and gave that kid and his parents a piece of of my mind. I won't include exactly what I yelled at them, but it wasn't nice. So much for my perfect date.
Needless to say, I'm no longer welcome at that Applebees.

Edited by Reinou: 7/27/2014 9:49:43 PMI am so sorry you had to experience that. I work at a fancy restaurant, and I too, believe kids should not be allowed there. As I am one of the most inexperienced employees, I am the one that has to clean the tables most of the time, and whenever I see children, I know I will take 5 times longer than I usually take to clean a table because of them. They always throw food on the floor, stare into the nearest employees soul, be awfully loud, which ruins the other customers' dining experience, among other things. Today, one table was covered in sugar and salt. You know how most restaurants have those tiny sugar/salt packets that don't bring enough? Well, it seems as if more than a hundred of those packets were opened and dumped on the table. The children's parents were so embarrassed they just walked out without paying. We have a sniper at the top of our restaurant's roof that shoots people that walk off without paying. This time, he didn't. It turns out that the children had sneaked up behind him and shoved sugar packets down his throat, killing him. After the whole ordeal, we checked the security camera, and we saw one of the kids staring straight at the camera(the cameras are hidden) he was smiling as he pulled something out of his pockets. Sugar packets. That's right. This MFer had more sugar packets. He opened one of them, licked his fingers, and let the sugar rain down on his hands, and then he just.... Nodded and walked away. The worst part of this entire ordeal was that as a result, we were pretty low on sugar packets for the rest of the guests.

Edited by Froggert: 7/27/2014 4:03:39 PMI knew what this thread was immediately. I'm not sure if that's just because I remember it from when it was originally posted or because its pasta, but I still love it. 10/10
