Bungie, feed us more lore!

I have been pretty obsessed with Destiny, and rather than studying as I should have I've researched Destiny to find out as much as possible about the game. Now I realize this is just Bungie's way to over-hype the shit out of their games. I'm not saying Destiny isn't going to be as great as I'm sure it will be, but it is a massive let down to be standing there all excited and have nothing new. The entire month of October there was nothing substantial for new information, the moon trailer was sweet but then they went on and on about the moon but telling us nothing. Rehashing the same things over and over with different interviews. To me, finding out about Destiny was like Christmas morning, only to rummage through the sweet ass stocking only to open gift after gift of socks. To hear that even in the Beta we are still going to be left in the dark on things like factions is disheartening. I have grown up gaming, from freaking NES to now and I've never seen a community like Destiny's so early, prior to the damn game being released. People are wanting to make guilds and fantasize about the game. I'm sure I don't speak for everyone, but at the very least if you aren't going to give us anything substantial Bungie, at least give us this. Give us the information about factions, give us the information about guilds/clans (if you hadn't planned on implementing that you should reaaaally get on that), give us more information on the races we can play and more information on the classes we can play. Do that and we will be so enamoured we won't care that November will be like October with nothing new revealed and Deej and others doing random interviews saying nothing. I don't know people, do you agree with me?

  • I like getting socks on Christmas. Not the summer wear or formal wear stuff, I mean the cushy and long winter socks. They are comfy and warm. But I digress, we have heard a bit more about the design philosophy and motivations for the environment design this month. That may sound like very little, but when it's compared to what was described for the guns, you get the sense that Bungie is really dedicated in each component of the game's development. This, presumably, includes how they expose fans who have been demanding and demanding more information since they made the apparent mistake of revealing what they were making to the world. That tells me a lot about the quality and cohesion of design elements that will carry over into the final product that brings everything together. I have described in other posts that this leads to a strange combination of assurance and anxiety for me, where I am comforted to know this game will likely be my finest experience to date, but then I enter fits of restlessness over the fact that I can't have it yet. We have already heard that they want a lot of the game to be discovered rather than delivered to you straight off the bat. Could it be that factions have some lore significance in the story that prohibits learning about them in great depth. We may presume they don't, but what would we know? Considering that elements of the game are getting swapped about whenever they reset their builds (as has been told in weekly updates), they may not want to say anything that misleads their fans to believe something will be in the game when it won't. It's as DeeJ always says in those podcasts: nothing discussed in the podcasts is set in stone as far as features and concepts are concerned. In summary, the game isn't complete. So, of course, little can be said of it.

    • There is a new interview on IGN with no that much of information, but they confirmed that you won't be able to fly around with your spaceship in space. And i would like some more information too, can't wait to play the game, but we almost don't know anyting about it..

    • It's half a year away and was revealed way too early. No chance in hell would they give much info this early on, just give it time.

    • It could mean we are getting pretty close to an official release date, just be patient. And also you say you played during the NES times, that means you should know a lot about knowing nothing about a game but it's release date and it's name. I want an experience when I enter Destiny and I think they showed a good amount. They showed combat, guns, classes, enemies, ships, powers, open world, and all sorts of stuff that should be enough for us until the beta.

    • I get why they are doing it, however, I don't think that Bungie anticipated the cult following they have received. I'd argue that something like this really hasn't happened before, at least not to Bungie and it's difficult to try and sate the insatiable appetites of the gaming community. It's just very likely that if they maintain this, the absence is not going to make the hearts grow fonder but anger the community. I guess we don't have a choice to but sit and wait...

      • I too would like a lot more information from Bungie about Destiny, but given we're months away from the Beta and release I can understand Bungie doling out information slowly so fans keep speculating and such so the excitement remains high.

I definitely agree! Although I know Bungie knows what their doing not releasing information like we want them to, it is quite frustrating to wait so long only to know so little. Im hoping for at least one big reveal about Destiny in the month of november.
