I feel like overall activity benefits from people browsing the "latest" filter in the forums.
Do you agree?

I vote 'Yae' and 'Make a profile setting option'. But more so 'Yae'. I find Trending and Highest Rated to be absolutely pointless.

I agree 100%

Well, it seems there are good reasons for trending to be the site default, but I would like an option to set our own default.

Couldn't agree more. It frustrates me when I come on here and just see the same posts I saw the day before. It would be nice as an option.

I feel with 'trending' as the default, too many topics are getting necrobumped. With latest, at least the threads that are getting bumped, are the ones that people are actually having a conversation about. Too many times do I see old threads, like months old populate trending and latest (because it was necrobumped from trending). So, it being in latest, I tend to think it's a new topic or something that actually has a conversation/interest going on in it, and further bump it.

Edited by cxkxr: 10/26/2013 10:59:48 AMIt is for the Mobile app. I got on Bungie on my laptop today to realize the trending was the primary and half the threads were hidden. But I can imagine when Destiny comes out, the traffic on this site will be so heavy, the latest will be so inconsistent and new threads will be coming and going all hectic. Which may be why trending is the default, it'll be more stable during times of high traffic on the site.

The average person spends a very short time on bungie.net/visit - most of that is probably reading the news and leaving. Trending is there the get the best content in the quickest amount of time so users don't have to sort through them manually. It's only 1 click for those of use that wish to prowl through the forums by latest.

AGREED!

I prefer seeing either the oldest stuff or the latest stuff anyway. Their system really needs an update.

My response to almost all questions like this, "Why not both?"
